King of Denial by Superman117
John Charleton.
He is one hell of a guy. Standing six foot three and weighing 240 pounds. A black-haired, blue-eyed caucasian male.
He is a man with a troubled past. In school, he was weak and chubby. Through exercise and
intense training, he remade himself into a stud. Now, his days are spent seducing women (he makes it a point to break their hearts) and spending the fortune he inherited from his wealthy
uncle Joe. A fortune indeed, one hundred million dollars. This is the story of his life and the people he knew.
Joanna Phedre is John's longtime friend. She knew him since they were kids in junior high and their friendship endured. Once, he was a chubby, unpopular kid. She was the tomboy who protected his softy *** from bullies. Their friendship survived Joanna's relationship with closet bisexual and thrill seeker Jonathan Hyman. Joanna has had strong feelings for John for a long time. She was the one who helped him after his relationship with Nicole Barrymore proved disastrous and turned him into the arrogant, conceited, self-centered and seemingly woman-hating ******* with anger issues that he is today.
John fell in love with Mariah Stern, a TV actress who is also a Broadway bombshell who comes from old money. He may have found his match in Mariah. She is drop dead gorgeous and won't let anyone get in her way. At the same time, Joanna begins a relationship with ex-Football player turned sports agent Jeremy Pearson. Coming into the scene is Tom
Henderson, an old rival of John's from his days as " the Pudgy Kid". John is fighting Tom for the attentions of Mariah, for Tom is now a Network executive. When John catches Mariah with Tom, he is devastated and angrily wants to kill them both. He thinks better of it and comes up with a brilliant plan to get even.
Things start to go bad for Mariah and Tom. First Mariah is fired from " Queen of the Night", her TV show. Still unsatisfied, John hires Ruth Mansfield to dig up secrets on the lovers. Ruth comes up with a lot in the case of Tom and exposes Tom not only for fraud but also for sollicitation as a teenager. Tom loses his job. John is reveling in his misdeeds.
At the same time, Joanna's relationship with Pearson hits a snag as he leaves LA for a job in New York.
The crestfallen Joanna goes to John, and sees him drunk and hurt. She learns what he has been up to. He confesses bringing about the downfall of Tom and Mariah. He wonders if there is any person on Earth he can ever trust. Joanna tells him of men always leaving her.
They drink together and talk of the old days until John kisses Joanna, and she kisses him back.
They wake up in each other's arms.
Joanna panicks. She loves John, but is terrified of a relationship with him because they always end up badly and she wants to keep him in her life. John watches as she leaves the apartment. He does something he hasn't done in ages, he calls his dad and asks him for advice about women. He realizes that the woman he has been looking for has been right under his eyes all along. He wants to see Joanna. He realizes that he loves her. She has gone home to her mother's.
On his way there, John encounters Mariah, the disgraced ex- TV star. She is carrying a gun.
A machine gun, to be exact. John runs. While running, he sees Ruth, the cruel and unusual
private eye that he hired to uncover secrets on Mariah and Tom. Ruth is also carrying a gun.
John writes Ruth a check and offers to double it if she stops Mariah from gunning him down.
Mariah and Ruth take a look at each other, and sparks fly. The two women leave, hand i hand. John watches, all kinds of scenarios going through his head. He smiles. Nah, no time to waste. He has to go see Joanna. He goes to her mother's. Runs into her Pit Bull, Skip.
The large animal has big plans for John's balls. John goes in and sees Joanna. He tells her he loves her. She doesn't believe him. Desperate, he starts singing and asks her to marry him. John's singing voice is notoriously horrible. Joanna remembers the good times they used to have, realizes she loves him and agrees to be his wife, if he stops singing.
He does.
The two are married in Joanna's garage.
The End.
