  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I still remember how disappointed I was in the last remake..the one with a very young Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange. But the old B/W one made back in the 30's and shown every so often on TV was pretty good. I like the story...maybe this one will be the best.

:) It's the topic of my house as far as films go. With a 13 year old excited to see it I won't be able to go opening night at midnight. We'll see it Friday or Saturday. No, I won't be checking the reviews;) I believe Jackson to be all that he's been awarded for.

I wish I was interested...but I'm not.. King Kong has never been of much interest to me... so despite the hype I think we'll be waiting for video on this one. I'll still be interested to see what the reviews from my movie going friends will be...

I've been waiting on this for over a year. I love the original and was happy to hear that Jackson is keeping it in it 1930's setting. As a fan of anything with a "Pulp Era" setting I approve of his choice.

Keeping it in the 30's setting should really make a difference. I love anything set in that era and marvel at the way they recreate those times. Sounds good and my interest in going is growing. But I will wait to see how it is reviewed and like another poster here may wait for the DVD to come out.

I just got back from seeing the movie. My thoughts:   2 thumbs way up!

I am so thankful it was 3+ hours long because you needed that time to develop the characters to really understand their motives and thoughts on things. The action is superb, PJ really knows how to make action sequences exciting as well as look GOOD, really good. And perhaps most impressive of all was that they managed to pull off the 'ape-beautiful woman' relationship. It was totally believable and heartwarming. The emotions ran deep with this one, more than I expected. I'm definitely gonna see this again. My movie pick of 2005.

I watched it yesterday, and I thought it was outstanding. I even got watery-eyed at the end...Of course I knew how it would end, but when it came, it was really sad and touching. King Kong has a bit of everything in it- action, adventure, horror, romance. Watch it and you won't regret it.

I caught a showing last night and I'm already wanting to see it again. It is simply an amazing film.
Jackson did not just do a remake of the original. He did the original and expanded on it. From character development to showing us the interior of Skull Island, this film perhaps the best that I've seen since the last LotR film.
As a fan of the "Lost World" genre this film is everything that I've always wanted to see put on film.
