  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Let's think about kindness and times when we have received or witnessed acts of kindness.

Kindness is a very lovely thing; both giving and receiving it brings me joy.

Even though most of my non-CF friendships are over, those friends did do some nice things for me while we were friends. In my childhood, my real life friends spent time with me and we had fun together. Later, some of my friends from other websites made drawings for me and helped me a lot with my art. In fact, a lot of what I've learned about drawing more recently came from their advice! I'm ashamed now that I didn't do enough for them, but I was more immature then and didn't think about that as much.

Now I have CF friends who are very friendly, helpful, encouraging, and supportive of me. Some of my family members have been kind to me as well. You're the best!

One of the most touching acts of kindness I have heard was the story of one of my close friends who was going through a time of despair and had feelings of guilt and self-blame. She felt she had to do more and give more to overcome these feelings. She decided to go on a retreat at a monastery. She told the brothers she had given up chocolate for Lent. Having heard her story, she was surprised to wake up and find a box of chocolates outside her room, put there by the brothers. When asked why she was given them, they told her that she was a person of immense value to God, that she should learn to love herself and that it was not the time for her to be giving, but the time for her to receive.

It has taught me that small words and actions can have a powerful effect on others in that they can bring healing and hope, however difficult the circumstances.

I've been trying to be more kind in real life.. not sure why... maybe just curious about where that would lead. Even when others are mean to me I try to remain calm and still be kind.. view it as a game more than anything. I do like the concept of humans trying to act contrary to their nature.

Christianity certainly preaches that "turn the other cheek". Transcend our animal state.
