Unusually heightened senses other than sight, although this may be a natural occurrance due to her blindness. Her grandmother's elven qualities passed down to her, mainly an excellent singing voice, considerable grace, and an extensive knowledge of healing techniques.
Personality:
Kiella is generally soft-spoken and respectful, but she is usually confident. Her opinions are not forceful but carefully thought out. However, Kiella is not quietly submissive if she feels authority has been misplaced or misused. Her temper, although usually kept under control, can flare up occasionally before being subdued. She has a guilt complex that was initiated under the harsh treatment of her parents when she was a child, and she constantly feels responsible for everything that goes wrong around her.
Brief History:
Kiella was born on a wheat farm in an area she has long forgotten. For the first seven years of her life, she helped around the farm without incident, loved dearly by her two elder siblings. However, her parents treated her harshly, allotting a vast amount more work than she could easily handle. If she questioned their motives or complained, she was given a few lashes. Even so, it was not a terrible existence, and Kiella believed herself content.
The family itself was under the protection of one of the Knight’s orders until the Black Mages seduced the Knight’s to their allegiance and the order fell. Overburdened with taxes and intimidation, they were forced to sell some of their land to pay the growing taxes. Unsure of where to go, the family continued to do the only thing they knew - farming - but their situation continued to deteriorate until the final blow was struck.
A few weeks before her eighth birthday, an evil plague took a hold of the family, killing her mother and eldest brother. Her remaining brother was sent away to relatives, and her father stayed with Kiella's mother until she died, then sold the farm and left. When Kiella awoke from her own illness, a shadow had fallen over her eyes; she was blind. She was also alone, lying in what she discovered to be a disused, ramshackle roadside barn.
Stung by her father's desertion, Kiella bitterly learned how to care for herself. When she was eleven, a passing merchant chanced to see her, and offered to take her to Espree, which was only a rumor to her of bustle and prosperity. Finding it no safer or hospitable, especially to abandoned children, she left the city after only a few months and turned to the wilderness. She learned to live and to respect it, as is natural to her elven blood. Kiella has felt the new excitement in the woods since the Chevaros have come, and is subconsciously drawn closer to Landing Five.
Physical Appearance:
Height: Just over 5' 6"
Hair: A color halfway between copper and blonde; perfectly straight; but to just below her jaw, being a little longer in the front.
Eyes: Dark satin brown, completely sightless.
Other: Slightly bronzed skin from living out-of-doors; slender and somewhat frail-looking.
Apparel/weapons: Kiella wears natural colors to blend into the scenery as much as possible, even if she can not see the colors herself. Usually she is seen draped in a grey-green cloak, given to her by elven wanderers. She is also barefoot most of the time, as it enables her to be able to sense her location more accurately. For weapons she carries a long knife made of indeterminate white metal, and a bow. Although blind, her aim is good. If she can pinpoint the direction of a sound, then she can almost certainly hit it. However, she does not often use them.
