  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi, I am writing a set of devotionals for the children of our church for their rec camp.
Ages range from 3k to 6th grade, I was wondering if any of you had any ideas or suggestion (related topics) that you think might be good.
I write devotionals daily (see journal for ex), but this is my first time writing something kid-centered.

Can I suggest taking them through a gospel or something - so often kids that age get lots of bible stories, kinda all over the place, but they don't always get them in context. It might be interesting for them to see Jesus and all that he did in actual order, and see how stories relate and stuff.

My daughter and I use a devotional Bible book that we both really like. Actually we have a few. My daughter is a bit younger than your target audiance but the principals are probably the same for the most part. Taking things from the Bible and relating them to real life is a key thing. Things like sharing, patience, caring, forgiveness, and many more. For a easier list you can look at these passages. Find things in the Bible that teach them and do devotions based on them. They are the core principals of being a Christian.

Philippians 4:7-9 And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which you have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8a Love suffers long, and is kind; love envies not; love vaunts not itself, is not puffed up, Does not behave itself rudely, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, keeps no record of evil; Rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.

Thank You!
I am in total going to write 10, allowing the minister to choose which he would like to use.
So far I have five templates, taking a cue from erin74 and going through an entire book in the bible.
I've chosen James.
Tying each chapter to a specific thing : Endurance, Attitude, Language, Pride and GamePlan (solution to life)
