Unlike what most people have come accustom to...Jesus taught a eastern religion...to most respects. However, I think it is really neither eastern or western. We have grown accustom to hearing it in either thought processes. But, I truly believe it is the way which invokes both pictural and word imagery.

He did teach an Eastern religion. But most people add a Western spin to it because of the lense of philosophy that we all see through. Even Islam is guilty of that, as sad as that may seem.

...iv kind of lost the conversation, and sorry if someone touched upon this already, but i dont see how meditation and be able to focur your own spiritual energy (if u can call it that) could be wrong
the effects could obviously negative ones, but isnt mediation part of prayer?
and isnt ki meditation? (ok thats a stretch, but it sorta is)

and thanks for all the ideas

Meditation is silencing the mind, and that could be seen as silencing the influences of the world so you may dwell more on the Lord (The Tao, which is the nature of meditation), instead of destructive desires that one may have.

True, but if the Christian silences the mind he is emptying it of God which then begs the question of what rushes in to fill it. A Taoist won't mind being filled with what is not of God but a Christian shouldn't want that!

That is why, when I meditate deeply, I focus on God or one of His attributes. Otherwise we are vulnerable in the way you mentioned.

Silencing the mind of Earthly desires so as to focus on God. A Taoist focuses on the source of life: That could be interpreted as God. If you take it from that perspective, it is what you focus on while in meditation. We all meditate afterall.

On the contrary, I think that when a Christian empties their mind of worldly things, their Lord is what rushes to fill it. I meditate frequently... for me, prayer and meditation flow easily from one to another.

~ Ch'i/Ki/Qi is biolelectrical energy that every living creature has. Nothing demonic about it. Trust GOD, take care of yourself, eat right, exercise correctly, pray and study and it will develop naturally.
~ Continue to discuss amongst yourselves...
