  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Isaiah 22:22;"And the( key of the house of David) will I lay upon his (shoulder) so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open."

Jesus said in Revelation 3:7;"And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things are saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that (has the key of David), he that opens, and no man shuts; and shuts, and no man opens."

So Jesus has the key, but what did the Lord mean when he said in Isaiah that he would lay it on his shoulder?

I believe we are given the answer in Exodus 28:12 with 2 onyx stones that were engraved with the names of the children of Israel on them. Which were also to be placed (upon the shoulders) of the ephod of the High Priest for a memorial.

The onyx stone is a multi-colored stone, just like the coat of many colors Israel had made for Joseph. Meaning this key was to be given to the Lords children of Promise. These are those spiritual children who have the Word engraved upon their hearts and minds as seen in Jeremiah 31:33;"I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts."

These are those who would carry the Word of God (upon their shoulders,) just as the priesthood did in 1 Chronicles 15:15;"And the children of the Levites (bare the ark upon their shoulders) with the staves thereon,.." This key of David is the very (Word of God) made flesh; which is Jesus Christ.

Faith in Jesus is faith in Gods Word, and by it we are given (the key of knowledge) through his Spirit to unlock the doors of understanding. But not all were given this faith as was shown in Luke 11:52;"Woe unto you lawyers! for you have (taken away the key of knowledge) and you entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering you hindered."

In this we see the lawyers had the written Word of God, but by their lack of faith in it, and by their own selfish practices, and carnal ordinances they corrupted the Truth, and it became of no effect.

But when the Word of God is sought out through faith, then by the power of God the doors begin to open for those who knock. And for those whom the Lord has chosen, he did also empower with (the keys of knowledge,) and also the keys to the kingdom of heaven.

In Matthew 16:19 the Lord said to Peter;"And I will give unto thee the keys to the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

We see in this, that those who are given (the keys of heaven) by God, are also empowered by God with the ability to forgive sins here on earth. We also, through the power of Gods Word and Spirit are given the power to heal those who are bound by sin.

In Matthew 9:5-7 Jesus said;"For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?" But that you may know that the Son of man has power to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go into thy house."

And if Christ be( in us,) then do we not also have the power to forgive sins here on earth in his name? Yes, to those whom those keys are given, they also are given the keys that shall bind or loose in heaven.

Wow! That was beautiful SpiritInTruth, I have never really searched this out (theres just so much to search out!). I had always been more inclined to see the cross being the key. That given if they do not pick up their crosses (likewise) they cannot be (rightly discerned) as my disciples. I suppose moreso after seeing the two cheeks, they shall smite the Judge of Israel on the cheek (and the priests due of the people) and he tells them (to follow him) and if smitten on the cheek give them the other likewise, and even in that the forgiveness of sins can be in the same actions. Alexander the coppersmith is one I see Paul remitting in his saying, "The Lord repay him" (verses the Lord forgive Him).

This is so very interesting brother, I will surely search these out, you always share such beautiful things, thank you:hug:

God bless you brother

Always blessed by your sharing SpiritInTruth!

I wanted to add how I was thinking on these things, however I havent fully searched them out (as I have said) and was reasoning with them (at the first) in this manner, however, not convinced which is why I am so glad you posted because I so want to search them out, because you always give me much to consider brother, and for that I thank God for you, you have kept things very interesting for me!

Maybe you can show me where I am off, perhaps not catching or comparing these rightly because like I said, I wasnt yet convinced, I sorta sit on things (and dont put them forth) if I have any hesitency about them (for the most part)

I'll start here...

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Mat 15:32 Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross

Gal 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Isaiah 22:22 I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.

Zech 13:1In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.

Isaiah 55:3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

Rev 3:7 These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

Acts 13:34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.

Isaiah 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

Romans 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound

Heb 7:22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament

Isaiah 22:23 And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father's house.

Ecc 12:11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

Luke 6:47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like.

Whereas...

Luke 14:27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

This is as far as I have gotten, need to fill in much better I realize this, but these were what I was reflecting on, the cross being the very power of God, and likewise as He is also the power and wisdom of God combined, and Him in us (being forgiven by Him) likewise by Him (doing that which pleases Him) and walking in love which keeps no record of wrongs. I was thinking around those lines

God bless you brother, His peace to you always!

Was looking at this in various ways too, the fountain opened (singular)even by the Spirit (likewise given) and they which believe are likened to fountains, being likewise a fountain which holds living waters (the Spirit) given them who believe in Jesus Christ.

Acts 15:16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

Isaiah 16:5 And in mercy shall the throne be established: and heshall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.

1Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Acts 13:34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.

Zech 13:1 In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.

John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (John 7:39)

Rev 22:1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

Col 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son

Exodus 19:6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

1Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light

His words are so remarkable, how to order them and show How awesome He is!

The blessing of Jesus Christ be upon you:thumbsup:

Ah yes, the power of the cross, and those who are chosen to bear the burden of the Word of the Lord.

Let me also share with you something else along those lines, with Christ( The Word of God) being crucified for us.

In John 3:14 Jesus said; "And as Moses lifted up (the serpent) in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life."

If you remember, after the children of Israel had provoked the Lord to anger in the wilderness, he sent forth fiery serpents among them, and many of the people of Israel died because they had been bitten by the fiery serpents.

But in Numbers 21:9 we see the Lord told Moses to make a serpent of brass, and put it on a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

This is the (serpent) Jesus compared himself to, but not to be confused with the other evil serpents. In these 2 serpents we see 2 different doctrines, one is of the Truth, or from God; and the other is a lie, or of the Devil.

So not only was Jesus saying believe in the power of the Cross, and the power of the sacrifice he made for the remission of sins; but also believe in the power of the Living (Word of God) which is shown in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

These 2 different serpents, or 2 different doctrines were also shown when the Lord had Aarons serpent swallow up the serpents of the Pharoah's magicians. Showing how (the Truth) in Gods Word would (swallow up the lies) of the devil, and also how the Lords disciples would have power over the enemy through his Word.

It is written in Isaiah 9:15;"The ancient and honorable, he is the head; and the prophet that teaches lies, he is (the tail.")

Notice in Revelation 9:10 that locust army (had tails) like unto scorpions, and their stings were in (their tails.)

This shows how that swarm of locusts would be a swarm of false prophets that would be sent forth to consume the minds of men for a determined amount of time. But they would only affect those who were not sealed by Gods Word and Spirit.

Yes! As lies shall not effect it, the power of God (Jesus Christ, the Truth) swallows them up, just as life swallows up death (even the tongue has the power of) He said, I give YOU Power over scorpions and serpents, the power being in their mouths (be not afraid of the words) or their looks (they are rebellious)... To the serpent, "Upon thy belly shall thou go"... Which serve not our Lord Jesus but their own belly (likewise)

Elsewhere it says he that keepeth the commandment shall FEEL no evil, or as He says nothing shall HURT YOU (in the same).

Love it, God bless you brother!
