  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

His little spiel on how he is Catholic yet how he supports abortion makes me want to vomit. Either be a Catholic, or don't be. But don't misrepresrent the faith, I don't care if you were an altar boy when you were 13.

I think I'm going to turn on the Yankees game. At least you can't fake the score in baseball.

I don't see the point in even watching him. We already know where he stands...or where he thinks he stands...or where he was standing yesterday...

Heck...maybe there is a point in watching him...he's changed his mind on everything else. :)

Yes, and Bush didn't do much well either...

Kerry said how the "choice" is between "the mother, doctor and God". Bush could have reminded the audience of the baby's life, and how it is downright murder.
I would love to ask Kerry why the baby is left out of that choice........

Oh yeah, cause it wouldnt get him elected... I forgot!

 GRRRRRR!!! I wonder why Bush doesn't just hammer him on his stance.... perhaps he gets too emotional about it and so stays away from talking about it. I know I'd get awfully emotional.... which might not be the best thing if you are trying to project a certain image to the nation...

I would ask him why the US Bishops keep urging voters to understnad that they should not vote for pro-abortion politicians....

That's a good analogy, Stray Bullet.

But let's not demonize Kerry here. I could never vote for or support such a man, for I despise his beliefs, but he seems like an honest and well-meaning person, truly ignorant of the liberal/Modernist conspiracy of which he is both a victim and, sadly, a helper.

Let's direct our prayers for him, tonight. Afterall, he might very possibly become the USA's next leader.

I'm sorry, but he seems to know exactly what he's doing and he does it over and over again against the insistance of the Church.

The fact that Kerry's plan makes more sense for pro-lifers (myself included) not withstanding any of these rants, right?

What?
Anyone who values the human life ought to be repulsed by abortion, and thus deny support to any politician who fights for the abortionist cause.

Oddly stem cell didn’t come up.

I really hope someone explains to and through the media that you can not be a Catholic in good standing and disagree with the Church on this issue. He clearly said he disagrees with the Church on this issue that abortion should be legal but it is a article of his faith that he is against it but yet he believe a woman has the right to murder her child. He is so contradicting himself. I hope all Catholics who plan on voting for him wake up. And what was up with that quote faith without works is dead? Killing the babies is really a good work to him?

Bush didn’t respond the way I hoped. Kerry said that his faith is the reason why he fights for the poor but yet it isn’t enough to fight for the unborn?? What the heck kind of double talk is this?? I really hoped that Bush this time would have pointed out how contradictory he is on life issues.

Bush was very good on marriage, saying clearly that he believes in the sanctity of marriage using more Catholic language. It’s a real disgrace for us that Kerry, a Catholic, sounds like an atheist up there while Bush, a Protestant, sounds like a Catholic.

The way Bush talked about his faith was moving, I know he secured every Christian vote there is with that while Kerry misquote the first commandment. Kerry clearly lost the devout Christian vote while Bush gained it hopefully.

Kerry is just a disgrace acting like he is against abortion but his hands are tied, it must be legal. Give me a break.

The worst thing in the world is to believe abortion is wrong, but still allow it.

That's like calling jews people while sending them off to the death camps.
And if Bush would just say something like that. He would be PC yet make his point. He needs to learn how the PC game is played.

LS, I love ya but if you really think that, I'd like you to meet me in Brooklyn where I have a bridge for sale. I'll give you a really good deal on it.

I followed ps139's advice and listened to the Yankees beating the Red Sox.

Any "plan" to make the world a utopia, yet spread the culture of death, is not a good plan at all.
The first sin was committed in paradise.

If any politician or government makes the world a "paradise," yet promotes the culture of death, how is the human heart helped? How is the soul strengthened?

If Kerry, or anyone for that matter, ended poverty and gave everyone good jobs and free trips to Disneyland, would it prevent sin?
I think it would be better if everyone was poor as dirt but they appreciated the sanctity of life.

I'm not one for baseball so I stayed tuned in. And I have some swamp land in Florida, prime real estate for anyone who thinks Kerry is sincere and means well. He does need prayers though because I believe he has placed his soul in great danger. Isn't it sad that the only issues he is firm on and will not flip flop on is murder?

Why be poor when we can tax the rich and give every American a trip to disney land?

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to ps139 again.

I disagree, comparing genocide to abortion, however true it may be, would not be PC or acceptable in the eyes of a lot of the public.

Many people would be swayed by such a dramatic opposition to abortion.
