  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Okay, this is mainly for the ladies but any guys can chip in as well. What do you do to save money when going out? Not even that, what things are effective ways of making your feelings known without spending money? For the record, I understand that spending money will happen, but I'm just curious what creative ways others have come up with for entertaining themselves. :)

Something that is relatively low cost... (sorta maybe?) is just hanging out at the arcade. Hehe, I personally stink at arcade games, but that is one of the most funnest (I know that's not a word but bare with me :D) things to do. Its not a bad price if there are token bargain thingys... hehe. Making your feelings known is a priceless gesture. You can't win a girl's heart by using money on her. Treating her like a princess is the sure-fire way of showing her how cool and special she is. That can be done by the simple little things that mean so much like opening doors for her, listening even when the things she says may just be about shoes, telling her that her eyes are pretty or that she's beautiful... things like that. It wouldn't hurt if you want to spend money, but IMO its not that big of a deal about what material things are received as much as the little things that a guy does and goes out of his way to show me that I'm a princess not only in God's eyes, but also in his. Something my dad tells my brothers about how to treat a girl is "Treat a lady as you would want a boy to treat your own daughter." That there should say a lot. :) Best wishes to your outing :)

Making your feelings known inexpensively? Um, words? Talk is cheap, and not always in a bad way. ;)

A few stems from a florist are cheap, and you get your pick of flowers (I happen to like gerbera daisies, and those run about a dollar a stem).

As for outings, how 'bout a walk? Go to a park and feed the ducks. Go ice skating or roller blading, pack a picnic and go somewhere different (maybe find a building you can get on top of?), a museum -- what do you like to do?

I've gone on dates to the Washington Monument, to flea markets, the Taste of DC, and once went to a SCOTUS hearing (that was really cool - and yes, we were both political geeks) then to a diner to debrief and chat.

The point of a date isn't to see how much money you can spend, but to spend time together doing something you enjoy. Movies or dinner are nice, but I tend to avoid them for first dates, particularly. Most people I know enjoy movies and eating, so that doesn't help me at all.

Like stubbornkelly said, walks, rollerblading, picnics.

Carnivals can be fun and cheap (just don't buy the food :p).

As something a little different, have a danc in your living room. A friend and I are going to do this. We're going to decorate the living room, cook our own food and wear old prom dresses with our boyfriends. It's cute, different and cheap.

Notes are free and easy brownie points.
Flowers too. You can lift them from the campus grounds or someone's yard.
Don't make that a habit though. Especially the yard thing. You might get shot.
I don't mind taking a flower from campus every now and then. I'ts not like I'm NOT paying for them anyway.

Walks.

Mr. Cheese...that is too funny. As for cheap dates, if you like sports you should have no problem..roller blading, bike riding, hiking up a mountain, etc....
You can cook dinner, if you like to cook, and make it really fancy and special.
In the summer, you can go to free outdoor concerts. If you live in a city, walk through Chinatown, go to markets and other special events. A tourist office should give you info about free day trips and sights to see in the area. Of course hiking and the like are a lot easier to do if you have a car.

Sunsets? Beach walks?

I think it's really cool to be creative and keep her/him guessing. The more you sow the more you reap.

One tip I've had is that if you're a bit shy first time and there's a possibility that the talk might dry up, then start off with something that can stimulate conversation, and only then eat out, or go to a coffee shop.

Art gallery/museum is a good idea here, as is a flea market. A drive in the countryside might be fun as well if the route is scenic and there's a place you can stop to look at the view or have a picnic.

Good tip. :) Not much is worse than awkward silence during the first few dates.

Bush walks to an awesome view. Sitting on a river bank. Going to a concert. Going and getting a coffee. Going for a walk. Going and jumping in puddles (if you are still young at heart). Going for a walk in the rain. Going to see an awesome thing (water fall etc...). Go swimming. Just do random stuff..

Cheap Dates are something we've gotten VERY good at! We haven't been able to afford much more than dinner at Taco Bell for the last year anyway!

We've gone on a lot of walks, hung out at a park, went to a museum (often for just a small donation!)

We live near the mountains so we drive up there once in awhile.
