I just though you all would like to know that the SDA church is busy at the scene of the hurricane disaster. They are asking for cash donations to expedite the needed items to the victims. Below is the addy for those interested in helping. Lets pray for our SDA volunteers. It's a heart-breaking, hot and humid and smelly task--but those children of God are there!! I'm so proud of our church's disaster program--they were there at the tsunami and any where in the world where help is needed. I am thankful for them!!

Oh Honor, I just got done watching about an hours worth of news, and I'm still in shock. In my 51 years I've never seen such a mess, and the thugs that are doing all of the looting, and shooting at helicopters are a worst disaster than the hurricane was. I'm so ashamed of what I'm seeing down there, this is showing the terrorists just where to strike us. I will pray fervently for the safety of our brethren as they strive to help the victims. I am praying right now, in my heart, FOR the victims, those without shelter, warm clothing, a bed to sleep in, or even just a clean drink of water. God have mercy on them.

Thanks for the website, I'm going to write it down, and this week my sabbath school children will be learning about this. I already know what they are going to want to do with their offering monies we've collected so far this quarter, because I know my children. Our monies, from this particular class are designated for the building of churches overseas, but I just know they are going to ask if this quarter we can send it help the victims of Katrina.

We all need to band together to do what we can to help.

God Bless everyone

Above is the number to call if you want to order some Bibles that will go directly to the victims in shelters. They're without clothes and personal belongings, so of course that also means their Bibles. I can't imagine!!!!

I hadn't even thought of that...now I'm even more upset.

Did you know that Fats Domino is among the missing? He, his wife, and his daughter. This is like a nightmare no one can wake up from.

I will say one thing though, as I was living on Long Island when 911 happened...I realize now even MORE just what a strong leader Rudy Gulliani is. He was out in the streets of New York City right afterwards, definitely risking his life, but his presence greatly calmed the folks in the city. I don't know WHERE the Mayor of New Orleans is, but it might help if the people knew he was nearby.

Precious Heavenly Father, have mercy. :prayer: :prayer:

I cannot say just how true this is but this is one news item I have come across.

"Hurricane Katrina Stops Huge Homosexual Party"

I was also wondering also about the annual Mardi Gras celebration... there is no way that's going to take place this year... maybe not next year either...

Being on the other side of the world I was not sure just how accurate this report was.

So from what you have said it seems to be right then.

Cliff, Mardi Gras is a separate event in New Orleans from the one you posted, but it's pretty bad as well. People dress up in costumes and women lift their shirts to receive beads they can hang on their rear view mirrors and brag about all year. (I saw a woman pulled over once for drunk driving that had so many beads around her rear view mirror, I know she had to have trouble seeing the road). Added with the alcohol she obviously consumed (she wasn't walking straight at all) and her car was like a death missile.

It's a big, drunken celebration. People come from all over the world to go to it. Walking around naked with body paint on is apparently a big hit.

In other words, it's a den of sin in New Orleans at Mardi Gras time...and apparently at other times during the year too.

It's a big den of sin just about everywhere you go now. :(

Sorry to confuse the two events Cliff... when I was reading the info from the link you provided, it made me think of Mardi Gras...

It is a horribly sad thing that those people are going through. :( The city itself is the nest of many abominations but there are also many saints and innocent children who are suffering as well. They are all in my prayers, I just wish I was in a position to help more.

Being that I have been to New Orleans, about 13 years ago, sheesh, i feel old now, I can say this. It is an arm pit of a place. I was 18-19 when i was there and was totally grossed out. I didnt want to touch anything. The place was so dirty and it smelled of urine everywhere. I am sure it was a combination of from drunk people peeing on the streets to homeless people peeing on the streets. The shops were so nasty, i wouldn't even go in half of them. I was totally embarrassed at the pictures they displayed outside to let you know what was going on inside. Remember, at this time i was a heavier partier. I drank and partied like the best of them, and nothing really embarassed me or grossed me out, but I couldnt wait to get out of that town.

That being said, i agree with PaleHorse. That town needed a "bath". But my heart goes out to the people. You never want to see anyone get hurt. It is horrible and it breaks my heart, and i cant even begin to think how God's heart is breaking. He doesn't want his children to suffer, and there is much suffering going on, not only there but Alabama and Mississippi.

There is no comparing New Orleans with 911. A flooded city is many magnitudes worse than a flattened area of a city.

Are you blaming him for being frustrated he cannot get help to the people of his city who are dying in the streets?

Yes Happy--I agree. Years ago when we went to New Orleans, that urine smell was the first thing that really hit me. And yes--there was a BIG homosexual convention that was scheduled for this labor day weekend. It's funny because when I heard of this 2 days ago--I went to that nasty web site (yes I did- ) and was appalled at what I read about the mayors of N.O. welcoming and ENCOURAGING this huge homo crowd (over 100,00) to their fair city: but--I was talking to my mother this am and when I tried to access this same site to read to her some of the statements--it's says it's down because of the storm!!! FIVE DAYS LATE!!!??? HUH--something isn't right!! Anyhoo--it's called "Southern Decadence.com" if anyone can log on--AND if you care!!!! lol By the way--the word "decadence" means "a process, condition or period of deterioration--decay"!! WOW--says it all doesn't it. And they named their own group that??? ROFL!!!!

I'll probably get slammed for this-but I truely believe this to be a judgement from God. I mean look at the survivors--how nasty they are. This taught them nothing. It's like some of them are animals--worse even. But what is cool about this--is that in typical Yahwah fashion--He gave people a warning and time to get out. He is THAT merciful!!

Brother and Sisters, if we think 911 and this storm is bad--what do you think the "viles" are going to be like?? Oh my--we need to be SEALED now!!! Put away our sin and draw closer to God then ever before in our lives. EGW says that the disasters in HER day were the "sprinkings" of the opening of the viles. We are not in the down pour just yet--but the "rains" are getting heavier!!!

Lord have mercy on us all!!!!!!!!!! Love--Honor :prayer:

Those who study the teachings of the Master understand that conditions in the world will get worse the longer time remains. And time will not end until the church gets its act in order. Instead of slamming sinners for being diligent at what they know, we should slam the church for resisting God's call that they may be one. Let us put the blame exactly where it belongs. The church bears full responsibility for every decadence that arises because of the delay in the Second Coming.

Yes, the rains are certainly getting heavier.

I'm sure most of you have heard about the seismic activity being predicted for the San Fransisco area that could culminate pretty much at any time. When that happens, for it is inevitable, it will make these other disasters (not to take away from the horror of them, for they are utterly horrible) look almost puny.
