  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a friend who recent had a baby. Her baby’s first name isn’t a Catholic name but her middle name is Katherine, spelled like that. I know there’s a St. Katharine Drexel, who I think spells it differently than Katherine. And there are other saints with the name spelled with a C instead of a K. Is Katherine spelled this way still a Catholic name? And do we still have to have a Catholic name to be baptized?

Interestingly, there is a school called St. Katherine of Siena in Philadelphia. I've never seen St. Catherine of Siena referred to in that way. In the Orthodox Church there is Great Martyr Katherine of Alexandria.
I think that parish is spelled St.Katharine.

I would say yes. I don’t think the spelling matters. There’s also St. Catherine of Siena.

Ok that’s the third way I’ve heard of that spelling….St. Katharine, St. Katherine and St. Catherine.

I don’t think the spelling matters, imo.
