Kansas police officer off force after fake claim McDonald's workers wrote 'pig' on coffee cup

A Kansas police officer resigned Monday after fabricating a story that employees at a McDonald's wrote the words "Pig" on his coffee cup.

Herington Police Chief Brian Hornaday said Saturday that one of his officers went to a McDonald's in Junction City before work and was given the cup, NBC affiliate KSNT of Topeka reported. After further investigation, the department discovered that the unidentified Herington officer made up the story.

Is the glass half full or half empty here? I'm not sure if all the facts are out. The public may never know why the ex police officer did that. He could of been related to another local fast food outlet or paid/bribed to stop that forces pratonage from purchasing coffee there. Perhaps another future news article in the making.

The real irony is that not by naming the individual, he will just get another Police job. Rinse and repeat.

Police have been under heavy scrutiny now that the age of camera phones has exposed some less than savory behavior on their part with regards to abuse of power and excessive force (which has given credence to the arguments of people who've been critical of police power).

So, they're now trying to spin it and make is as if they're actually the victims in society.

It would be interesting to know what's in his file. Perhaps he was in trouble and thought this was a good way to get some money because he may be out of a job soon. Either that or he's an idiot thinking he'd be famous.
