Harris to skip Netanyahu’s speech to Congress but plans separate meeting

Vice President Kamala Harris declined to preside over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress on Wednesday, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.
The decision to skip the joint meeting underscores the tense relationship between the Biden administration and Netanyahu at a time when the war in Gaza has caused growing backlash from the left.
A visiting head of state addressing a joint session of Congress and neither the President, nor the VP will attend -nice slap in the face.

Why does that sound familiar? hmmm... let's look

Biden to Skip Netanyahu Speech

Vice President Joe Biden will not be in attendance when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addresses a joint session of Congress next month, his office confirmed Friday.
Biden is the latest and most prominent Democrat to announce he will be absent from the speech that has stoked a political furor in Washington. Biden's office said he will be traveling abroad on a pre-planned trip, the details of which have not been released.

For those who are not familiar - the Vice President is the President of the Senate and sits next to the Speaker of the House on all formal meetings. Once again they demonstrate their distain for our ally.

This is bad. Even though Israel is not perfect, we should protect Israel, or at least respect Israel. Yes, I support peace, and the IDF are a little harsh, but we should not turn our backs on Israel. Zechariah speaks about a time in the future where nations turn against Israel. That time is quickly approaching.

Zechariah 14:1-4 (NIV): "A day of the Lord is coming, Jerusalem, when your possessions will be plundered and divided up within your very walls. I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city. Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights on a day of battle. On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south."

Trump To Meet With Netanyahu In Mar-A-Lago

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday at his resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

Netanyahu is in Washington and due to address the U.S. Congress on Wednesday and meet with President Joe Biden at the White House on Thursday.

“Looking forward to welcoming Bibi Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Tuesday.
The former U.S. president, who in public comments has urged Israel to “finish up” its war against Islamist group Hamas in Gaza, has consistently portrayed himself as a reliable ally to Israel.

I am sure the Prime minister feels completely supported when he address a joint session of congress and neither the President, nor Vice President are there. I am sure he felt completely supported when neither greeted him as he landed.

Can you imagine the cries if when Obama addressed the British Parliament and the Queen and Prime Minister both decided to boycott him. Or if he landed and neither greeted a visiting head of state.

I caught part of his speech - I love this quote: he was thanking the President and quoted him.

I am an Irish American Zionist ~ Joe Biden.

betcha that will go over well.

He showed so much class, praising Biden when Biden refused to even greet him...

He literally made me feel ashamed of the people in office right now.. he was so gracious in the face of hatred for him... Truly a leader.

I just think it's sad that the only person willing to stand up and act like a president and greet and meet with our allies when they visit is a former president/current presidential candidate...

Our sitting president and vice president refuses to act like one... It's completely shameful.

Joe declares himself a Zionist - yet boycotts' the prime minister for the second time he makes an address to the join session of Congress.

He says he is a Zionist - he says he supports Israel, yet consistently snubs the Prime Minister.

"Netanyahu is not only a war criminal. He is a liar. All humanitarian organizations agree: Tens of thousands of children face starvation because his extremist government continues to block aid. Israelis want him out of office. So he came to Congress to campaign."

Netanyahu is using this war to save his own political and possibly legal skin. I'm all for supporting Israel as an ally. But this fawning over him is wrong.
Not only that, they are siding with a foreigner and trashing the President of the United States.

Bibi should be used to it by now when he gets invited in a partisan fashion.

[Vice President] Joe Biden will not attend Israeli PM Netanyahu's address to Congress

US vice-president Joe Biden will not attend Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s controversial address to Congress next month because he will be travelling abroad, Biden’s office said on Friday.

The announcement marked the latest snub by the Obama administration, which has done little to hide its displeasure with Netanyahu for accepting an invitation from the Republican House speaker, John Boehner, to discuss their shared concerns over the US administration’s negotiations with Iran.

The White House said it had not been consulted over the invitation, which it called a breach of diplomatic protocol, and said Barack Obama would not meet with the Israeli leader during his trip.

Netanyahu has a private meeting set up with both Harris and Biden, so praise of Biden was spot on .
