Ive seen this question asked alot before, here you will get a very differing view on Kabbalah. It is not for everyone, sort of like an aquired taste, mostly becuase its very difficult to comprehend (Jewish law states only those over 40 can).

However there is alot of modern day mysticism passing itself off as Kabbalah and giving it a bad name, such as Madonna and her holy water *rolls eyes* avoid that at all costs. True Jewish Kabbalah is in line with Judaism, the Tanach and the Talmud and is just a way of trying to understand the divine. Alot of Kabbalahs books such as the Zohar are strictly midrashic, and cannot be read face on but are written with different objectives.

anyway, I know very little, if hes up to it Yafet can describe it much better than I :)

Shalom and G-d bless

I dont really know of any websites per ce that delve into the far depths of Kabbalah, it would be best for you to go to a Synagogue and experience it for yourself. All the people who put it down for the most part havent done so.

Anyway I think Judiasm 101 has a short piece on Kabbalah: http://www.jewfaq.org/toc.htm

I'll tell you waht Ahriman...

Messianic Judaism at times hangs in the balance between christian interpretation and Jewish interpretation. On this very issue we have in this forum a person who represents each side of this balance. If you'd like to hear a more traditional and typical view that christianity would give as an answer to this question you have asked, I reccomend you ask Higher Truth. However, if you would like to hear a more traditional and typical view of Judaism in response to your question, I'll be more than happy to answer your question.

When this topic has come up in the past, HT and myself have debated. These debates have probably been exhausted on the subject. There really is no reason to rehash them again. So I'll allow you to chose which perspective you'd like to hear from. If you choose to hear the typical christian viewpoint, I'll step back and let Higher Truth fill you in. However, if you'd like to hear the tradtional Jewish perspective on Kabbalah, I'll gladly step forward and discuss the matter with you.

To fill you in, this is why Justin responded in the fashion that he did.

Shalom,
Yafet.

is Kabbalah in line with the tanakh and judeo-christian belief

Often the term "judeao-christian" can be in conflict with itself. For example, is it wrong to eat pork? ;) Well, chrsitianity would resound with a healthy no, and Judaism would declare a mighty yes.

Concerning Kabbalah: I'm sure you will find a plethera of information on the internet representing the christian belief... and if you know where to look you can be pointed to places on the internet that glean the Jewish belief as well.

Yafet, Yafet, Yafet...... traditional Christianity is clueless when it comes to kabbalah. It has been re packaged for them as "bible codes" and in the hilarious books that Grant Jeffries writes on the "Nature of God". hahahahahahahaha...sorry. They eat this stuff up like candy with no clue of it's origin. Traditional Christian view???
They do not have a view. Walk into a Christian book store and say " Did you know that book is based on kabbalah?" and they will look at you like a deer in the headlights. Too funny.

I consider myself a very balanced messianic, but I will say something about kaballah. The non-mystical version of kaballah is like the rest of TOSHBA ( Torah sh b al pe) or oral torah. You need to eat the meat and spit out the bones. There is junk and there is stuff that is ok. You need high discernment. Like some arithmetics comes from kaballah as well as scientific theory, this in itself is not bad. Some kaballists also teach a more Brit Chadashah oriented theology on relationship with God versus relegion. My wife, who is not involved in kaballah or orthodox Judaism anymore, was led to experience a relationship with God by someone who taught kaballah. This eventually led her to Yeshua ( if you want to read her testimony go to our website at www.simeonscry.org). Many Chassidim are involved with kaballah which also believes in constant joy. Many are also followers of Rav Nachman.

My advice to you: DON'T TOUCH IT! For those with high discernment and are called to the outreach to the orthodox community ( people like Dr Brown, Asher Intrater, etc.) it is ok; but for the average everday messianic believer who wants to follow Torah simply and develop a relationship with God... the word of God is enough. Many people who start any developed reading of TOSHBA get sucked into it and become dry mens bones. Its like messing with toxic chemicals, only professionals who know how dangerous it is and how to mess with it and learn for years how to discern it will be allowed.
