  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi guys,

Even though this may be old news, I don't know if everyone's aware of this, but Lutherans agree with Catholics in their view of justification!  Check out this link!

Also, one Reformed brother (who writes from a preterist perspective of eschatology) wrote a GREAT article on justification.  Check out this article

God bless!

Hi Jason, I think you are lumping all Lutherans in the same bunch, that simply is not so.

I am quoting from the aforementioned article and I am a bit confused over the authors first paragraph:
"It's interesting to me that at the only place where the [latin] words "sola fide" appear in the Scriptures, it says that justification is NOT "sola fide." It is also noteworthy that Luther dubbed the epistle of James an "epistle of straw," for the sake of his system. It is my belief, in interpretation, that the entirety of the Scriptures must be taken into account, with no part of them thrown out or ignored. To derive a solid doctrine, there must be no portion of the text that we are *afraid* to quote or that we secretly hoped were not there. This excerpt in James is just such a text! "
Since the entirety of Scripture must be taken into account why did the author not address Eph2:8-9?
