my Q is if a person has ADD and ADHD can they join the army?

It depends on the status of your ADHD/ADD at the time you apply, your history with prescribed drugs for the problem and how long/ long ago you took the drugs. Currently, the military does not allow people who have taken mind altering drugs to join the military. The military considers Ritalin and Aderol to be mind altering drugs. This policy will surely change since such a large group of Americans is now taking these drugs legally. By the time you apply, it may be commonplace for people who have taken these drugs to enter. If a person truly has ADHD/ADD (many doctors and schools throw this monicker at discipline problems), then chances are you will grow out of it. If you are one of the rare people that do not grow out of it, then you probably will not be let in.

i have taken both of Ritalin and Aderol... not any more tho.... i have all ready grown out of it so i gess by the time i hit 18 i can join well thank you...

they do take you if you have adhd. A few who had mental illnesses have even snuck in, but they eventually get found out, then put out. I think sometimes the recruiter just wants their quota

The military also has waivers for just about anything. Since you are so young and aren't taking it now, then, by the time you come in, you can probably get a waiver.
