• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

those who are thinking of quitting, in the process of quitting, or are like myself and quit not too awfully long ago (one year ago Oct. 25th, 2004).

You can do! You can do it! You can do!

I gained 30 lbs but I still feel so much better spiritually, mentally, and have managed to save over $1400 by not buying cigarettes!!!

I won't say it wasn't hard and that I don't think about them anymore but I know I'm doing the right thing and that's what keeps me going! The cravings do get much easier to deal with. So keep on keepin on! Don't give up! You CAN and will do it.

Just keep saying to yourself, "I am a non-smoker," and eventually it will sink in and come true. It's good positive information and a good prophecy over yourself!

That's great! I'm only 14 and have never smoked before, but I know quite a lot of people who smoke (especially in the year below me) and have done for years. Congratulations! I have heard so many people saying how hard it is to give up...

to quit :0) that's what our lungs look like when we smoke. This is a picture of a lung with emphysema caused by smoking. How is that for encouragement???

Find more information here (source of picture as well): http://www.beyondyourimagination.com/stopsmoking/badlungs.html&h=473&w=383&sz=75&tbnid=IlRuLEZRlQYJ:&tbnh=126&tbnw=102&hl=en&start=9&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dpictures%2Bof%2Bbad%2Blungs%2Bfrom%2Bsmoking%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26safe%3Dactive%26rls%3DGGLG,GGLG:2005-43,GGLG:en%26sa%3DN

I must admit we have ads like that over here and I have always tried to ignore them until recently - I guess I just need to always remind myself why I quit! It is actually quit awful that we choose to do it to ourselves but I guee because we can't see the damage we don't think it is real ... I guess that can be said about a lot of things we do and say - we can't see the damage it does to us (and others) so we don't change it.
God bless, Evie

sorry about the last gross post but I think everyone knows I did it out of love and concern.

But on the upside did you know if you quit smoking you will:

1) feel better
2) look better
3) breath easier
4) smell better

and most of all . . . make our Great Big Wonderful God very very proud and happy? It's true!

God bless those who have quitting, those who are thinking of quitting, and those who are not quite ready to quit yet.
