  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey folks...

I've had a few days to think about my decision to take my name off the membership list and I've decided to make it official.

If I weren't a moderator I wouldn't be making this a big deal by starting a thread about it, but I don't want to make it seem like it's a secret either.

It's been said that we have never really been able to define what a conservative is, or what the definition should be in regards to this forum. I think that's a fair statement.

To me a conservative is simply a person whose view on life is old-fashioned, moderate, and traditional. We are careful and somewhat cautious in regards to our choices in life. I am a conservative.

But I am not militant. Someone said that there are those who take on the "Christian Warrior Crusade" role, and others the "Christian Suffering Servant" role. Well, I am the latter.

When this forum was started it was a peaceful haven for fellowship and sharing our diverse faiths. Not so now. It has become a war zone.

I have made some awesome and lovely friends here. :) And I love all y'all very much. It's been wonderful to have a taste of what unity is like. Thank you! I'll continue to fellowship here and hopefully, continue to be a moderator here. But as GM has said, it's up to y'all.

In closing, let me say that this thread is not to make anyone feel guilty or like they are in the wrong in any way. I just felt like I needed to be completely honest with you folks in how I feel.

God bless you guys...

Love you...Dawn

Dawn,

Whenever anyone makes a difficult decision like you've done, I respect it and don't try to argue them out of it. Obviously, we'll miss having you as a member. But what I wanted more to say was this: 1) your understanding of conservatism is correct...and it is reflected in the forum statement. Therefore, there is nothing amiss about your presence here, whereas there is plenty with those who have created their own definition of what being conservative means; and 2) there is nothing in our statement (or about conservatism apart from it) requiring any militancy. That is included on the fundamentalist forum, for what that's worth, but not here.

In short, we hate to lose a real conservative because of the postings of members who actually aren't conservative, but that's a problem no one wanted to address.

Dawn, that makes me really sad  But I do have to admit, I'm not surprised...I've noticed you've been posting less and less.

I do understand though and respect your choice...I'm the same Conservative Christian that you are and have tossed the same thoughts around. I personally do hope that you will continue to mod here as you are a loving and fair person.

God bless you my friend, I love you.

Love you, sis.
And am very, very saddened that you feel like this...but I understand.
Hope that you continue as mod - but that is your decision.
But it has been a privilege to get to know you here, and your wisdom and love has been a blessing.

I agree with you. Things will settle down shortly. To me this is still the safe heaven that we envisioned and the people here are family.

Please LT, stay as a CC member.:prayer:

Well, last time I looked you weren't on the list either. ;) Want me to add you back on? :)

Definately the people here are family. But I'm not sure it's safe.

:sigh: Will continue to give it some thought.

I understand & respect your decision Dawn since I have had similar thoughts. I hope that if or when things calm down you might be willing to reconsider your decision.

Don't be a stranger my friend - you are a light & joy to all who meet you
Thank you Robin.

Will you stay on as a mod - because I was really looking forward to working with you.

Also - let me know where you will be posting so we can have our smiley competition (from the smiley princess to the smiley queen)
I hope to...that would be up to the membership.

I have posted in many areas of the board. Mostly in the friendship threads I guess...until this forum was made. :)

Okay, this, I do not get. I understand resigning from CCC, but can you continue to be a mod and not be a member? I think our rules state that only CCC members can mod. Am I wrong on this? I assumed that when you resigned from CCC, you were also resigning as mod.

Now, I personally would like for you to stay on as both, but I do think that our mods must be members. Sorry, not personal. It is how I would feel about anyone.

I know the feeling. I am not militant either like a "Christian Warrior Crusade" role.

I am conservative as a "Christian Suffering Servant" which I put all issues to God without being too judgemental because only God can judge. Not I. Paul said, "But if we judged ourselves, we would not come under judgment" (1 Corinthians 11:31). We can escape the critical judgment of God by doing our own exercising of critical self-judgment.

What would Jesus do? John 8:10-11 "When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, He said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."

I am not afraid to "confront" a sinning believer by using the examples of exercise of discipline in Matt. 18:17; I Cor. 5:1-5. However, how and who I confront are what is important. Any Christians who does not respect me as a Christian basically means I am not qualified to confront a believer unless I am a Church elder.

I will share the world what GOD hates while at the same time I will share the world what God loves. Explaining what God hates by defining world that Satan has corrupted, not the sinners. Only God will judge the unsaved sinners at the time of their death.
