Hey. congratulations on enlisting. what your feeling is typical and ok. I think everyone feels like that when they first enlist. I did over 30 yrs ago when I first went in. looking back now, there was nothing to be afraid about. keep your mind focused, do what your told, listen and learn, and you will do fine in basic.

theres both active duty and veterans here in the military section you can PM or start a thread and ask questions so you can understand better what your about to go thru (understanding removes a lot of the unknown, which brings the fear).

best of luck to you.

I will keep you in my prayers. Just maintain a positive attitude and take the Lord with you.

There are some proud vets around here who I hope will be able to give you some good support.

Every career has its good and bad points. You have chosen a worthy one, and I thank you and wish you well.

I was in the military years ago. I had no clue what was going on when I was new. I should of asked more questions.
But the Lord was with me even though I didn't know Him that good.
Always ask questions. The only stupid question is the one never asked.
Also, bring a pocket Bible with you. It's great reading for the downtime.
Thanks

:) Naturally you will feel nervous, but ... enjoy it, stay positive, and stay out of trouble. Watch carefully and make friends with guys who don't look for nonsense and do stupid things. Listen carefully to everything that is said by the instructors and you will go a long way.:)

Have people encourage you - don't be shy to communicate with people on Military Section - CF.

Thank you for your service.

Armybasic.com might be a big help to you. They have a downloadable copy of the Initial Entry Training (IET) book there. If you memorize the general orders, basic marching commands, and rank structure, you'll be ahead of most.

Godspeed to you.

I was scared to when I enlisted last November and shipped to Infantry OSUT in January. But once Basic is done with it gets a lot better, well for some heh.

If the Drill Sergeants don't know your name by the end of the first few days you're in good luck. It'll be hard at sometimes, as I'm sure you already know that, but remember hundreds of thousands have done it before you and you can do it it. The Army is also different after BASIC.

I'm going back to Benning June 3rd, to finsih my AIT, I got a bad case of Pneumonia 3 weeks before graduation and had to stay at the hospital for two weeks, so they sent me home for a month to recover from the surgery. But stay safe and strong and you'll do great. Good luck :).
