I hope everyone who didnt feel well today feels all better tomorrow.

I had a good day today. Tomorrow I will be painting our living room ceiling...sounds like fun, huh? No, not really...I just painted it earlier this year and the paint we bought was not so good, so we bought a sealant kind this time. Hope this paint turns out better.

See you guys tomorrow sometime!

Ooooh, painting. I painted last spring. Looks like I'm going to have to paint again this spring. Not ceilings though. Our ceilings are really high. I would have to build a scaffold. (and I don't know how) Yeah...bad paint can be a real irritation. You go to all that trouble and effort and it has to be done over. How frustrating. If you think of it, I would sure like to know what paint you use if it turns out well. Tips like this are invaluable.

Thaks for the well wishes.

I had my room decorated sooooo nice - it looked like a room in a mansion might... (not with gold chirs - with like nice wood finish furnature, dark walls and paintings on - none of this "posters" malarky I used to have)
...
...then I kinda wrote all over my walls tonnes of slogans... oops

Sophia, when I was about your age I painted a mural on my wall. I used to really like to draw. I think I stopped because someone told me that "you can't make a living by being an artist." But I married an artist...ironic huh? And he supports our family of 5 just fine. I wish people wouldn't squash young peoples dreams so off handedly.

Well, I guess I'll check in with you all tomororrow. If you don't see me, it's because of the construction. They said it should take 5 days. They also said that we should be able to use this room when they're not here. We'll see. (I'm not a big chicken before their hatched counter)

In saying good night I'll leave you with this quote that I found that cracked me up...pun intended :
A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked. - Bernard Meltzer

Wisdom Seeker, Your ceilings sound cool being that high and all. I always thought ceilings like that were cool.

When I sign out of here, I will be on my way to start my painting. To make the job a little bit more fun I will have my mp3 player in my pocket, headphones on me ear and the music blasting away.

I will let you know the outcome.

Have a great day 'Ol Wise one.

One thing I learned about painting AFTER I painted my room is that if you mix a couple of spoons of Vanilla extract in the paint it will take the paint smell away faster. My room seem to smell for weeks of fresh paint.
Redgoddess, I will try your tip on the vanilla extract. Yeah, the dreeded smell of fresh paint that lingers is not a good thing. When you have guests over and they ask if you painted that day, and you actually painted two weeks ago makes you realize that when you live in the house you get used to the overbearing smell, but others smell it more strongly.

Have a great day Redgoddess.

Thanks Princess! I love to paint, just not walls.
Do you paint pictures of things. I used to paint when in High School, but cant ever find the time. Although, I have to draw something first and then paint it...not good at painting freehand. And, I guarantee ya that I will be covered in paint by the days end...my husband will get a laugh..he always does. That man can paint a whole house and not get one drop of paint on him, but me on the otherhand....

Have a great day dsdumpling.

Sophia23, I think expressive art is the best. I have been thinking about letting my daughters do that sort of thing in the rec room they have downstairs. Letting them pick the colors and take a brush and go crazy. It is their area for now.

Have a great day Sohia23.

I used to LOVE art at school - it was the funnest subject (also the least "structured" ...hmmm) but it is really hard for me to do realistic looking drawings (with loads of effort, time *and* being in the right mood I can do it) usually I am too impatient and make scribble drawings or otherwise more "patterns" type stuff - both that I like - but apparently you need to be able to do realistic stuff to study art at A-level... oh well...

Hope everyone had (is having... what time is it where y'all are at?) a great day.
Over and out.

Just wondering if the vanilla technique have any potential negative repercussion? Like ants, bug, or kids licking the wall problems?
You mean like the wall paper in Willie Wonka?

My best art class was in high school. I need to go back to college and learn some techinique. My husband's been through all the classes. Glad he did life drawing before I met him. I don't know if I would like him doing it now. Oh, who am I kidding...he's the only man I've ever met that had more character than that. No need to be jeolous of that one.

My husbands a graphic artist. Sophia if you ever think about getting back into classes...some people do really well in graphics that don't do as well in realism. (not saying that my husband isn't talented in that area too...it's just not something he has time for these days)

Well, I went ran 5 miles this morning. Got some groceries. (ran out of milk and bread) came home and made lunch and dinner for my husband. Picked up my kindergartener from school. Helped her with her homework. The other two kids came home from school....they don't need me to help them, just to make sure their working. Been staying out of this room all day because of the construction. We have a wall now. It's not taped and the closet and the door aren't in yet. No paint. But there is a definate wall.

I can't stop sneezing. Wish this cold would run it's cource and stop annoying me. Now the Dayquill pills I took aren't even working anymore. Wish I could go to bed. But...can't leave the kids unattended. Oh well...better than the stomach flu.

Glad to see you all talking without me. I was hoping that this thread would keep going for you all if I couldn't be here. Nice to see people talking to each other about their day and stuff.

Catch you all later.

Ooh, yay, people to befriend!

Feel better everyone who's sick. Half the people I know are ill, it's not quite fun. Yeah, I was never too good at drawing or painting or any of that stuff, I prefer photo. I'm in my 2nd year of classes and am planning on majoring in itnext year in college. I think the chemicals are effecting me though, I spent 4 hours in the darkroom at school today, only got 15 prints done. Good news though! I only have 25 to go! so about 6 or 7 hours left! Bless y'all

Well, that's something I always wanted to get into. Photo's are one of my passions.

I use a digital camera and print them out of my computer. I also use Photoshop. That's great to fix red eye, crop things etc. We even cropped me into a family photo that I shot. Oh the things you can do with photography these days if you have a good computer.

I love photography too. I have a huge trunk full of pictures and lots and lots stored on my computer. My family is used to the camera flashing all the time. I love my family pictures, and I also enjoy landscape pictures. Also, have lots and lots of my brother who is a wrestler. I run his website, the organizations site and my husband takes the pictures...most of them anyway...I do take a few myself. I use paintshop for most of my photo editing and printshop is another one of my favorites.

The painting of the ceiling went well...I used Kilz brand...it went on well, I just hope it stands up to its promise of being stain blocking and resistant. I forgot to try the vanilla tip though ...it smells like paint in here.

STSoledad..."Ooh, yay, people to befriend"... ...glad you stopped by.
