• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

how easy it is nowadays to stay in touch and reach others online, by phone, Skype etc, but how absolutely hard it is for us folks with depression to just...say it. To communicate. To talk about it. It's like being in a room full of people and still feel lonely. Alone. Like there's more of a chance of a conversation with your dog, than a human being. Heck, the other day I was sitting on a bench, feeding the Ducks, and for a split second it felt like I was getting more support and understanding from the ducks, than its felt with people.

Believe me. It's not an exagaration.
It's how it is.
It's how it goes.
Wishful thinking (wish it wasn't this way)

I draw more comfort from my loving, affectionate dogs than people...

I don't hate people... it's just different these days. Everyone is too busy with their own lives to care...

Nature and animals do have a calming effect on our psyche...

The last time I talked to a person about depression, she told me to get a life... a response I didn't expect, but, somehow wasn't surprised.

How right you are. I have guilt sometimes about finding more solace in animals rather than people but it's just a fact. Christians can be especially cruel so I am careful about who I share with.

Animals can be great therapy, but people can be better. Hi Friend, funny I find you here. I too battle depression daily and have felt dejected by people. I was rejected by my family all my life. Some times its how we see other people, we see through depressed glasses and everything looks negative, but we must accept people for who they are. and Be good to them and find what fellowship we can with them. The issue is our depression we have to work harder than others, because all to often we are hurt and want to withdraw from people, but this only makes us lonely. don't withdraw fight back find fellowship.

praying for you
Keith
