  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This movie has been in development hell for years now, but it's finally looking positive for it, sounds like Summer of 2015 as the release date, they have a decent director in there, revealed a new logo at this years licensing expo, and from the sounds of it are actually filming (one of the folks on the crew tweeted a picture of Maui, and the word "Nublar", indicating that it will take place on the island from the first movie).

Anyone else excited?

Here's a recent news story on it:
Jurassic Park 4 won't be a reboot - RTÉ Ten
Jurassic Park 4 director Colin Trevorrow has revealed details about his approach to the blockbuster sequel.
The 36-year-old screenwriter, who is working on the movie co-writer Derek Connolly and producer Steven Spielberg, hinted that Jurassic Park 4 won't be a complete reboot of the series.
Speaking to TV and film website Schmoes Know, Trevorrow said: "We don't want to create a new scoop here, but we definitely want to honour what came before us."

And earlier a few months back, Jack Horner (well-known paleontologist who does the consulting dino work for JP): Jack Horner says to expect scarier Dinosaurs in Jurassic Park 4! | Jurassic Park 4 News
Details are scarce about Jurassic Park 4, which Spielberg will executive-produce and Colin Trevorrow will direct. But count on a new, previously extinct creature rising to stardom.

"I can't actually tell you who that will be," says Horner, who will consult on the new film. "But you'll want to keep the lights on after you see this movie."- Jack Horner

As a reader of the books, that comment has me thinking the Carnitosaurus from The Lost World, where they had a chameleon-ability - large dinos able to stalk at night while blending in = win, I'm hoping they're going to go with that.

Yeah been waiting for this forever now.

A few years ago this below is supposed concept art (confirmed at the time) on what they were going to do for the plot....hybrid human/dinos. I REALLY hope since then they rejected the idea and started over because hybrids would rui the franchise for me:

I think they should just leave the franchise alone at this point. If they really feel the need to make another one they should stick closer to Crichton's source material and make it darker and edgier. They botched The Lost World and ignored most of the book so maybe that would be a good place to start, especially since they've used pretty much everything from the first novel (with a couple of exceptions).

Yeah, they definitely dropped this idea, from what I've heard - that would have been horrible.

Supposedly there was a script (maybe it was the same one) where the dinosaurs actually had guns and weapons. That's all a horrible idea but I have to admit I'd kind of like to see that in all it's horrendous glory.:D

I read both books and didn't mine most of the changes, I'm use to movie adaptions beign different then books (LOTR anyone?). I think I liked Lost Word most. The third one though? I pretend it didn't exist. lol

Well good to see they stopped the hybrid idea.

From what I've read about the new script, it takes place on Nublar and the park has since been turned into the popular theme park that Richard Hammond had dreamed about it becoming from the first movie. The of course something happens and a lot of dinos have full bellies.

I just hope they stick to realism. No fake dinosaurs like in JP3, no hybrids or dinosaurs being tamed and loaded up with guns like the original JP4 script was going to be. Just the same huge wow factor that made us love JP in the first place.

The only thing that could ruin it now is the CGI. JPs original CGI with animatronics made it so realistic. Even today I don't really see to many movies that make me feel what I am seeing is real, with the exception of District 9. If they can draw me in again and make it look real I'll be thrilled. I also hope its not 100% CGI. Having more practical effects like animatronics really make it even more real.

If Rocky Balboa (and to a lesser extent 2010's 'Predators') has taught us anything, it's that you can do a sequel a decade or so later that redeems it's franchise (and in Balboa's note, end's it on a great note). I would love a 4th Jurassic Park flick - IF it can be on the level of the Lost World (not expecting the level of the first, but that'd be great).

I actually liked the third one better than the second. It at least seemed a bit more in line with the novels but it was also superfluous. I liked it for what it was but also could have done without it.

I hate the third film so much. Not as much as Spiderman 3, which legit upsets me, but this is up there. Most of my beefs were with it's terrible structure, it's quick pace, with the fact that the little dudes mom was so annoying, the raptors, and the Rex vs Spino fight (where it was and how it went). Only good thing about it was Sam Neil as Allan Grant.

The first film has the best use of special affects ever, in my opinion. The sequel should use animatronic models AND cgi on them as JP1 did.

I won't lie, I would love a remake in the tone of the book as well. Not a remake of the first awesome film, but a more true adaptation of the book.

I agree. It's going to be hard to capture the "wow" factor of the original because the technology for that film was pretty revolutionary 20 years now. Now everything is bloated CGI and a lot of directors are too lazy to demand animatronics and actual models.
