  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A federal judge on Friday upheld his order that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program should be fully restored, setting a 20-day deadline for the administration to do so.

DC District Judge John Bates said the Trump administration still has failed to justify its proposal to end DACA, the Obama-era program that has protected from deportation nearly 800,000 young undocumented immigrants brought to the US as children.
But Bates agreed to delay his ruling for 20 days to give the administration time to respond and appeal, if it chooses.

Okay in the US Constitution under the Enumerated Powers, Naturalization is among them and the Federal Authority to enforce it and establish laws. They did this and have since our Founding as a nation. The President has no real authority to set-up laws or establish much save within the limits Congress imposes and his authority to oversee agencies. DACA violates this by exempting out illegal foreign nationals for special treatment without a good reason and if Obama wanted to act he needed to go to Congress for a law change. Obama and other precedent allows one to prioritize deportations he could say ignore them for others however but he had no right to legalize their illegal status. Now you get it Congress is the sole Constitutional authority who could provide relief.

But this judge didn't see it that way so he reinstated DACA, right?
tulc(thinks he's understanding tkolter's point now) :)

And its in appeal but I would suggest a solution since there is a renewal fee of $495 annually just raise that to say $10,000 a year and if they don't pay remove them from the program. It would be a simple administrative change after all. In fact I suggested this to my members of Congress to recommend to the President to try.
