  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm glad for you. I'm considering the Army this July when I turn 18. The only downside to it is the pay isn't that great and I don't know if it is enough to support a family good enough.

If you are married, the Army pays you good. Even for lower enlisted.

If you are NOT married, then Army takes care of you, all you have is take home money, food, healthcare, barracks, everything is free my friend... Pay is good, more than enough for you.

Hey! So sorry I haven't responded to your question! I forgot I posted in here...

Anyways, I'm planning on my enlisted career being an airborne cryptologic linguist. I won't know for sure until around Christmas... so, yeah. There's many careers I'm interested in as an enlistee, so it could be tough to choose!

I'm going to make a career out of the Air Force, and thusly will eventually become an officer. My dream is to be a test pilot.

Haha, right! But it's my understanding you don't choose your language... it's chosen for you based on your testing scores, right? Hope I do well, though! Wouldn't want to get stuck with a Class I language. Boring!
Most of the time ya, but you can request certain languages, or they will just randomly put you in what they need.. we have low and high scores from the DLAB in our Arabic classes.

I'm just now completing my linguist training at DLI, so if you have any questions feel free to ask. :D

My friend is down there.. Do you by chance know Pfc Jason Ruic? He is learning Korean out there in Monteray Bay.

Edit: I just saw that your learning arabic so you probably don't know him. That's one of the two languages that I ever care to learn and will hopefully get some practical experience from it as a missionary out in the middle east somewheres. The other is biblical greek for obvious reasons.

Holy cow, didn't know there were other DLIers here! I'm with the 311th, DOD. Finished Smart Start this week, am starting Arabic on Monday. Fortunately I had 4 weeks of Jump Start, so I've got a good handle on sound and script. Also, I just got the last room in 840 last night, and I've only been here five weeks. :D

A tip for learning koine (Biblical) Greek - memorize the definite article before anything else. I guarantee it will make everything else ten times easier.

Well, learning the alphabet first will probably help the most. ^_^
