I believe the Lord gave me a beautiful revelation today about how we can 'prepare the way' for the Lord in our own lives. John the baptist was said to be sent fourth to prepare the way for Jesus, but what exactly did he do? What did he preach? What exactly did he do to 'prepare the way' for our Lord Jesus? He preached the repentance of sins and baptized people for the remissions of their sins. He was getting people ready for Jesus' arrival by getting them to turn from their sins and repent! For as Hebrews 12:14 tells us, "...holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord."

I believe that the moral of the story is that if there are unconfessed sins in our lives, they can hinder us from 'seeing the Lord'. We need to repent of our sins and turn from them and receive forgiveness. By repentance of our sins, we 'prepare the way' for Jesus to operate in our lives!

So what has the Lord shown you about John the Baptist and his 'preparing the way'? What are your thoughts on all this? :)

For readability sake, here are the chapters in the Bible that speak of John in the NT:

Matthew 3:1-17 { http://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/Mat/Mat003.html#top }

Mark 1:1-8 { http://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/Mar/Mar001.html#top }

Luke 3:1-20 { http://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/Luk/Luk003.html#top }

John 1:19-34 { http://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/Jhn/Jhn001.html#top }

John identified Jesus and what he would do, he was like Elijah showing the true God of Israel.
We should be like Elishah who followed Elijah to the end . . .we don't *just* agree that Jesus is "the lamb of God", we make sure we get "the baptism in the Holy Spirit", the "mantle" that falls from heaven.
"For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
. . . And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." (Acts 1v5, 2v4)
