This is the comment from the article that through me for a loop:

"The reason for saying, “when consistently worked out,” is because I think it is possible to inconsistently deny the truth of imputation while embracing other aspects of the gospel (blood bought forgiveness, and propitiation, for example), through which God mercifully saves."

Is this a legitimate concern or am I reading too much into it?

He's become a little too seeker sensitive for me. I'm a little concerned, too.

I'm not an apologist for Piper by any stretch. I do have respect for him because of a lot that he's done in the past. However, some of his recent exploits have me scratching my head.

With that said, I don't really have a problem with the article. Maybe I'M misreading this, but I took it as the same way I discuss the issue with Catholics when the ask me if I think they are save. I'll tell them that that while you may be saved IN the Catholic Church, it's not because of their teachings, but in spite of them.

I saw that James White had the same concerns on twitter... I think he addressed on the DL today but won't get to listen until tomm...

I'm planning on listening. Maybe I'll comment after I hear what he has to say.

I've learned from John Piper in the past, he was pastorally helpful.......yet his usefulness to Semper Reformanda, going forward, is dimming
