  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

to be honest, I don't know. This is mainly because I don't know were I stand on the Calvinism v Arminianism debate.

The only thing I do know is that God is completely soverghn over who goes to heaven, and yet, somehow (in a way in which we probably can't explain this side of heaven), that doesn't remove our responsibility.

What do you make of John MacArthur?
I make that he is an Acts 2 Dispensationalist who believes in the five points of Calvinism, and is extremely gifted in writing and speaking. His study bible can be a great resource even if you are not a dispensationalist or Calvinist.

Now, I could go on and on about him not believing what I believe, or that he doesn't see the true impact of the mystery revealed to Paul, but, seriously, what would I be proving? He may not see what I see, or agree what Mid-Acts believers believe, needless, he has done much for the cause of Christ.

I think he has done much to make the Cross of none effect. He adheres to "lordship salvation" which isnt believing in the gospel that saves today but inserting WORKS and visible PROOFS as being the criteria for our salvation. Lordship salvation is simply another form of "lets get back to works"...and is dangerous as well as insidious.

One CAN be a member of the body of Christ and be an enemy of the Cross...MacArthur is one of them. He denies the revelation given to Paul as being unique and mixes law and grace to his shame.

If I remember correctly, MacArthur believes that one is not able to believe the gospel unless God regenerates that man and gives him the gift of saving faith. Those that God in His own good pleasure has decided to save, will have good works, not that those good works save them, but that they have been ordained by God.

We will have to agree to disagree on this;) MacArthur does not believe that works save a man, but the complete opposite, as he is a five point Calvinist. All Calvinist believe that man is so dead in his sin, not sorta dead, not half dead, but so dead in his sins and enslaved to his sin nature, that nothing he can do will please God. This includes coming to Him without God choosing him to do so. These works that follow salvation, do not bring salvation, but only accompany those who have been given salvation. However, this is another subject and I am sure we could have a good Christian debate over it.

LOL LOL...nahhh...its Christmas...no debates....LOL LOL;)

What I meant was that Lordship salvation carries with it the idea that if one cant SEE some redeeming ACTION that tells someone you are saved, then you probably arent. That to me is simply STOOOOOOPID, since all believers are still prone to sin and arent yet PERFECT in our "behavior". Lordship salvation has all but taken over in most churches, and theres why I dont like either IT, or MacArthur for promoting it.

But it sure aint worth any debate....hope your christmas is wonderful...huuuugs.:groupray:

How can anyone think that someone is a good teacher of the Word if said teacher doesn't even know what program God is IN today? Thats NOT being a good teacher, or a good student. We dont listen to men to get our ears tickled.

This quote at the bottom of your post is excellent ....it also applies to MacArthur and any who preach another jesus and another gospel.

False doctrine and heresy are even worse than schism. If people separate themselves from teaching that is positively false and unscriptural, they ought to be praised rather than reproved. In such cases separation is a virtue and not a sin.

To that, I say a hearty AMEN!

I for one, am not going to any site that shows MacArthurs ignorance of Gods word rightly divided.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity."

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;2 Timothy 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Titus 1:9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.Titus 1:10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:Titus 1:11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

Sound doctrine for the church the body of Christ.... go visit YOUR apostle Paul and see what he has to say to us by divine inspiration...giving us the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the MYSTERY.

Eph 2:20
"And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;"

Christ is my guide, I follow him. As Paul himself stated:

1Co 11:1 "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ."

1 Corinthians 4:14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.1 Corinthians 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.1 Corinthians 4:16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

Philippians 3:17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.Philippians 3:18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:philippians 3:19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

1 Thessalonians 1:6 And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost.1 Thessalonians 1:7 So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.

Romans 11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:

It's good to know who my apostle is and how I am to follow my risen, ascended Lord from glory...to preach Jesus Christ ACCORDING TO the revelation of the mystery. :)
