May 2014: Hunter Biden joins the company Burisma Holdings, as member of the Board_of_Directors. Burisma wanted a "clean" face, because there were investigations against the company and its owners. The responsible investigator was Victor Shokin, known to be corrupt himself. He protracted many cases, including Burisma.

2015: The growing discontent with Shokin let more and more people in the Ukraine demand his demission. European politicians, e.g. Merkel, join this demand.

March/April 2016: Shokin gets fired. As a consequence, the investigation against Burisma is suspended.

January 2018: Joe Biden claims it was he who pressed Poroshenko to dismiss Shokin. Whether he was right or just boasted in a conference of what other politicians achieved, is not clear.

January 20198: Hunter Biden leaves Burisma.

September 2019: Trump accuses Biden that he got Shokin dismissed to protect Hunter and urges Ukraine's new president. There is no evidence that there has been any investigation against Hunter before, so the Democrats interpret it as an attempt to denigrate Joe Biden. So do anti-corruption activists in the Ukraine.

October 2019: The Ukrainian general attorney Lutsenko announced that there will be an investigation against Hunter Biden. The official version is that this has no relation to Trumps call with Zelenski ...

The only two points missing are the Biden trip to Ukraine where he demands Shokin be fired and he is fired within a 6 hour timeframe, and the chummy golf outing.

Calling Shokin corrupt and that is why he was fired seems to me a 'perspective' analysis. Apparently everyone in the Ukraine government at some point when in power has robbed from the national wealth. So there is that. Seems to be involved in American politics as well. Someone brings up an accusation and the next morning there is story of corruption against the accuser.

If Shokin was considered corrupt because he was going after Burisma in favor of another oligarch who had an energy interest, then that is what my kin would call "The clover calling the grass green."

The headline should be "Who in US government is not invested in Ukraine corruption?" I'd like to see that expose, but the political lines are too thick and colorful right now.

He was accused of corruption by Ukrainians, European politicians and others. So this is not hindsight, but the view of around 2015.

No, he was considered corrupt because the cases he was going against were never finished. So he was considered corrupt because he did not go after Burisma and others (only formally opening a case).

I don't believe this is accurate. As I understand it, the current prosecutor for Ukraine said they will review prior investigations that have already looked into Burisma. They are not opening any investigation into Hunter Biden.

I don't believe this is accurate. As I understand it, the current prosecutor for Ukraine said they will review prior investigations that have already looked into Burisma. They are not opening any investigation into Hunter Biden.

I heard a news on German radio that sounded like as if they will also look after Hunter.

The investigation was over before the U.S. and our allies were pressuring Ukraine to remove a corrupt prosecutor.

However, the investigation did not, according to the Ukraininan president, find any wrongdoing by Hunter Biden. Which is why the president was so concerned when Trump pressured him to provide some dirt on Hunter Biden as a "favor" in order to get U.S. military aid.

You're right. But remember, when one is looking for a diversion, one grasps for whatever straws are there.

Meantime, Biden actually increased his standing with democrats since July, to give you some idea of how well the diversion is working.
