It's an interesting chapter to read and consider. You can take a few things from it. Which is true from all the scriptures. Which is probably why we have many interpretations. Originally what I thought was how modest Jesus was when he turned the water into wine, but how zealous he was when he drove people out the temple. If you compare his response to Mary how his hour hadn't yet come and the quoting of scripture about zeal for God's house, it has the foreshadowing and fulfilling of Jesus as Christ.
What's in my mind is how it involves both his mother and father, respectively Mary and God. Importantly this is where Jesus' begins doing signs and miracles. Here you have him serving people as needed through Mary as he would his ministry, the Master of the feast not knowing calls the Bridegroom crediting him "You have kept the good wine until now!" If the following story of the Temple is considered beside the Wedding, you could see a pattern of how God is served by Jesus and him served by Mary, all the above having a role serving the people including knowledge and understanding.
