My wife got a scam message from Facebook Messenger. It was from the account of our former pastor.

Apparently, this is a somewhat common thing now. The hackers use a very realistic looking but fake Facebook login page. Someone enters their password, and then the scammers message their friends. But it comes from the actual Facebook page of your actual friend.

One of the clues for us is that our former pastor is a man a few words. But suddenly this morning she started getting all these chatty Facebook messages.

When we sent him a text message (separate from Facebook) telling him we thought his password might have been compromised, he replied with:
thanks

I said to my wife, now that sounds like the real him!
