Do 7th Day adventist believe Jesus was the son of Yaweh and died for ALL believers sins?
Hi Carey, to answer your question--YES!!!

And welcome to our forum.

Grace thru faith in the sacrificial blood of the LAMB (Jesus) is the ONLY means of salvation for man. From Adam to the last person on earth--this has been and will be the case.

Hope this answer is to your liking because that is what the bible teaches!

Blessings, Linda

Hi again Carey,

I have several Messianic friends, and the main difference I see between Messianic Judaism and Adventism is the belief of what will happen in the end times.

Also, half of my friends believe (like Adventists) that you sleep the sleep of death until the resurrection on the last day. The other half feel you go immediately to heaven or hell upon death. That topic, from what I understand, is just not discussed in the sermons to keep everyone happy.

ALL of my Messianic friends keep the biblical feasts. Most Adventists do not, because they feel all but the Feast of Tabernacles was fulfilled with Christ, our Passover. Some Adventists do keep the feasts apparently, but it is not something we do as a church.

I've never really sat down and made a list of the differences to be honest, but I hope I helped some. There is a Messianic forum on CF too, and you'll be very welcomed in there as well...some of the best people on this site are Messianic.

God bless,
~Lainie

How do 7th Day Adventist beliefs and Messianic Judaism differ??

I am very interste and thank everyone for their responses.

God bless you in Jesus name.

This is a loaded question!

Most of messianics today are at one point attended christian churches. Therefore Messianics' belief varies depending on which denomination they came from.

SDAs and messianics both believe Jesus is the messiah and both maintain the sanctity of the 7th day sabbath.

They differ on just about everything else.

Messianics believe all the Old Testament law of Moses are still binding. SDAs do not. SDAs believe only the 10 commandments and natural laws are binding. Messianics in large do not recognize a distinct 10 commandments apart from the whole Torah.

Messianics believe in the immortality of the soul while SDAs do not. SDAs believe when a person died, he/she sleep in the grave until the day of resurrection upon the second coming.

Messianics differs greatly on the interpretation of the prophecies. Most of them (because of their mainstream christian background) believe in the Left Behind interpretation, Rapture and the 1000 year reign on earth...:the futurist view. SDAs hold the historist view on prophecies: as history progresses.

While SDAs believe the papacy is the office of anti-christ, messianics do not. Most of them believe the anti-christ is going to be a personality emerges in the future during endtime events. Most of them believe the temple shall be rebuilt.

SDAs believe the legislated sunday worship is the mark of beast. Most messianics do not agree on what MOB is.

Almost all messianics believe the Jews are still the chosen people of God, some believe the jews have a dual covenant meaning other than accepting Jesus as their savior. SDAs do not.

SDAs and messianics both followed the dietary laws. However SDAs advocate vegetarianism in addition.

Some messianics esteem the old testament more than the new testament, maintain the OT was God-breathed, meaning God dictated the writing while some even question the inspiration of the NT.

Some offshoot of messianics believe the name of Jesus/Yeshua must be pronounce corrected in the hebrew tongue for a person to be saved. And some think the Aramaic NT is superior to the Greek majority text.

And lastly SDAs officially recognize Ellen White's writings as a special testimony given by the spirit of prophecy. However Messianics almost uniformly reject Ellen White as a prophet.

The above are some of the major differences. Like I said, the individual person's belief vary depends on their background since the lack of an unified/official statement of faith.

Hope this helps,

Your observations are very good OntheDL. I guess I should've mentioned that all my Messianic friends were once SDA, so their belief system is still very much like ours (but they wanted to keep the OT feasts).

In fact, half of my friends still read EGW on a regular basis.

Yeah, I have some jewish SDA friends but they are more like messianics.

I studied the Hebrew Root Movement for a couple of years while I was on a large messianic forum before coming over to CF.

I must say messianics in majority are a group that's more zealous about their faith than SDAs in general. Some of the most sincere and passionate people I know.
