  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I can't recall the verse but it was in Matthew soon after Lazarus died that there was a line saying something about Jesus being a step father needed to go visit with some woman. Jesus never had kids so this confuses me.

Lazarus is not mentioned in Matthew, only in Luke and John. No where in the bible does it say Jesus was a step father.

Tom I was reading St. John and Matthew at different intervals so it must be in John. I wish I had a pen and paper to document the verse. I'm sure it just confuses me but if I could point it out you could help.

There's nothing like that in John.

Not as much as it confuses the rest of us.

The Lazarus story is in John 11, so perhaps you could read through 11 and 12 and refind the phrase you are thinking of.

hi CFL,

Maybe this is God's way of showing you that you need to be a little more knowledgeable in the things of God. Get the Scriptures and find it for yourself. I'm fairly confident that you're going to find that that and probably a lot of other things you've 'thought' about God may need to be reinvestigated.]

God bless you.
In Christ, Ted

Miamited we all need to be more knowledgeable in the things of God. I'm confident you too will one day find the truth.

Would you mind quoting for us at least where you suspect? Did our answers help you?

While I too disagree with Miamited's intent, the rest of us who didn't offer as such at the very least deserve something of a reply.

mine says, "...him first to Annas, who was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the..."
So my conclusion via my version, is that Annas is the father-in-law, not Jesus. :)

Peace

---EDIT---
Which also makes sense contextually.

The Jewish leaders wanted Jesus dead.
Caiaphas had said it would be good if one man died for the people.
Annas is that guy's stepdad.
the Jewish leaders hated Jesus.
Why not offer this man, whom they hated, so everyone else could be saved (which also is like a spoiler of His actual purpose ;))
