  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you think it is offensive to portay Jesus as a cartoon character in animated shows such as the simpsons, family guy, and south park? Sometimes I don't know.

Well, the three you mentioned mock Christ... so it is blasphemous.

Family Guy and South Park - given, and I totally agree. The Simpsons? Not so sure I agree. I'm an avid Simpsons fan, and I can't remember a single time when God or Christ's person were mocked, just the way His followers act. And if you look at the series over time, Homer's least favorite Christian, Ned Flanders, is always portrayed as kind, loving, helpful and sincere, if a little nerdy. Rarely if ever does Homer get the better of Flanders, and yet Flanders never has to lie cheat or steal for this to happen. I know they used to have a Christian write - CT did an article on the Simpsons years ago talking to him and about his influence.
