  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

11 Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12 As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy[a] met him. They stood at a distance 13 and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”
14 When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed.
15 One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16 He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.
17 Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18 Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” 19 Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”

I think it is a rather sad story. I am not saying that it is one of the saddest stories in the Bible, but I find it rather sad that only one of the cleansed lepers thanked him. That is so wrong of the other nine to not thank Him considering that lepers were outcasts in those days and the Samaritans were not well-liked by the Jews. Does it sadden you too that the other nine lepers did not thank him?

YES!, it does sadden me because the same thing continues today. Today, many are healed through modern technology. When they are healed they give credit to the hospital, to the nurses, to the program, to the doctors, etc but they do not give credit to Jesus Christ. They assume that man had the knowledge to produce all of the wonderful technological advances in medicine without understanding that God gave them this understanding. Do we really think that all of these modern miracles of medicine would have fallen into place without the mercy of God? NO, of course not. In medicine there are many areas where doctors admit they don't understand why certain things work and why some things are still a mystery. The answer is God and His will for each and every person. For some He will create a new technology just for them. For others he leaves the mystery unsolved. He does this for his purpose and His Glory and He expects us to trust Him either way. If I get cancer I do not automatically assume that God will heal me. It is in his hands and He will respond according to his righteousness and His will for each individual. WE must be ready to leave this earth at any time that God wills it. We can try the theology of "Naming it and Claiming it" but no matter how much we claim it, God will do it according to His will and his purpose for our life. I'm glad He does it that way. There is no pressure on me to try to work up some sort of fake faith. I don't care what the Charismatic faith says I don't have enough faith. I don't care that some say I will die because I don't have enough faith. I only care about pleasing my Lord and being ready to leave when HE says it's time to leave. That is a wonderful, freeing statement. I say to my brothers and sisters in the Charismatic or Pentecostal faith....Give up and let God do it in His time and trust Him for that time to be just the right time!
