  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Look at this.
Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 1 corinthians 5:7

The Passover instructions found in exodus 12:

- A lamb, without blemish(Vs3,5)
-kept until the 14th day of the month(vs 6)
-Let nothing remain until the morning(vs 7)
-The blood covers, shall be a token upon the house, and when God shall see the blood, he will pass over and the plague shall not be upon you.
-not a bone to be broken (vs46)

Jesus Christ:
-the lamb of God(john 1:29) brought to the slaughter (isa 53:7), is "as a lamb without spot or blemish" ( 1 pet 1:19). Referring to Christ who was sinless.
-Jesus came into Jerusalem on the tenth day of the month, and he was examined until the fourteenth day of the same month. On passover, Jesus was crucified and became the final sacrifice.
- None of Jesus's bones were broken(psalms 34:20, john19:36)

Jesus's blood, justifies us, so we shall be saved from the wrath of GOd(romans 5:9)

So is the passover foreshadowing the sacrifice that Jesus would make?

I highly recommend attending a Jewish Passover Seder (especially a Messianic one). But even in a non-messianic Seder you will see the elements of God pointing straight to Jesus.

The breaking of bread is with matzoh (unsalted sheets like what we call crackers in the US). There are three matzoh sheets and the middle one is the one that is taken out and broken. Jesus said this is my body broken for you.

Half is broken and passed around for all to have a piece of it. The other half of that middle matzoh is wrapped and hidden (Jesus' body was wrapped and placed in the tomb). Later the children hunt for the hidden matzoh and are rewarded when they find it (lest ye become as children ye cannot enter the kingdom... out of the mouths of babes... and the reward is symbolic of salvation)

The wine that is drank is in four processions or four cups and in the ultra-orthodox Seders consists of wine mixed with warm water (the Roman soldier pierced the lord's side and from it came an issue of blood and water)

The cups are:

the cup of taking out (of slavery from Egypt / sin)

the cup of deliverance (from Egypt / sin)

the cup of redemption / sometimes referred to as the cup of blessing (1 Corinthians 10:16) (from Egypt / sin)

the cup of gathering (Israel as a nation / the Church / the rapture)

Many believe the Last Supper was an incomplete Seder in that Jesus did not partake of the fourth cup stating rather he would not again drink of the fruit of the vine until he drinks it in the kingdom with his people.

It is also a joyous occasion. Go and see next Spring.

I have wanted to do that for some time now, but I don't know how to go about it. How can I attend a Passover Seder? Do I need to know a Jewish family, or is there another way to sort of 'sign up' to be involved in one?

thanks,

ischus
