  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"David Crump, professor of religion at Calvin College, told Christianity Today that Young "puts her thoughts into the first person and then presents that 'person' as the resurrected Lord" and said he is tempted to call this "blasphemy".[19]"

Very important point ... very important.

Do we ever bother to think of how serious it is, to say or imply that we are speaking FOR GOD?

It is a very serious thing, and we read in the Bible what God has to say about "false prophets" ...

My daughters’ good friend‘s mother-in-law owns the place and is a supposedly VERY devout Catholic
She probably is. A lot of people are simple minded, unlearned, and clueless. This isn't an insult at all. Jesus says to become like little children. Personally, I was unaware of automatic writing until this thread, so count me among the unlearned. She probably doesn't have a clue and means well.

In her claim of auto writing did she say the hand moved on it's own?
Or did someone say that for her?
Did she find inspiration and wrote it?

Anyway; the smoking thing is interesting... a very personal note if she was very ill.
A lot seems a bit personal. It seems a struggle ensuing in her spiritual battle ... her illness and calming her fears.

I do not know if this is for the Church. But I don't know.
I'd have to read it. And I do not think I want to.

MAY she rest in peace.

I think she felt in her heart what Jesus was saying to her and she wrote it down.

She sat down with pen and paper ... and wrote what she believed she 'heard'.
She heard, because she was spiritually 'open' ... receptive ... to 'hearing'.
Some people are; some people more than others.

Persons in Pentecostal/Charismatic circles are familiar with this, because they actively believe in the operation of the spiritual gifts ...
particularly the gift of prophecy.

But every voice we 'hear' is not necessarily the Voice of God ...
that is the problem with this sort of thing.

Some persons think every voice they hear is God. They haven't been taught differently.
Innocent mistake, but one that can get a person into spiritual trouble ...

I looked up auto writing. I think someone mentioned that.

So you're saying inspired writing.

Jesus Calling fans can be deceived into contacting the spirit world.
That is not wise.... to ask for the dead. But praying for the dead.... is good.
And just praying for answers...

I have no clue what she wrote aside from smoking is ok. Which technically it is not a sin. But I have no idea if the Lord necessarily condones it. I think he leaves that to us.

Sometimes, in the Body of Christ , we have a responsibility to 'warn' one another ...
and that is largely what my comments in this thread are about.
I'm just confused and I won't be bothered with it unless the Church gives their okay.
