Are you referring to tithing and unclean foods? These were introduced not at Mount Sinai. There are laws within the Law of Moses, the Book of the Law that are part of the Law, His Word that is in our hearts and minds. IT IS NOT JUST THE TEN COMMANDMENTS that is in our hearts and minds.
Yes and more my friend. Are you referring to tithing and unclean foods? These were introduced not at Mount Sinai.
I agree the requirement for eating clean foods and tithing still stands, but that was not introduced at Mount Sinai. Tithing was introduced in Genesis 14:20 and still in the New Covenant Luke 11:42.Yes and more my friend.
The law of Moses is a separate covenant than God’s laws (the Ten Commandments).
Christ made it clear the purpose of the Law of Moses was to prepare His people for His arrival. (Luke 24:44).
The ceremonial ordinances of Law of Moses ended with Christ as our sacrifice, not God’s commandments which are eternal.
Colossians 2:14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
This is the law of Moses. Written in Moses’ own handwriting. Contained civil and ceremonial ordinances. It was written on a parchment scroll and it contained curses against those who did not obey the works of the law. The Book of the Law (Law of Moses) was placed on the side of the ark-as a witness against Israel. Deut 31:26 It was on the side of the ark, instead of inside (where God’s Ten Commandments are stored) because it was temporary.
God’s Ten Commandments was placed inside the ark and written by God on stone and spoken by God and placed in the upmost holy inside His Temple. We know they are not “wiped out” because they are also in Heaven
Revelations 11:19 Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple.
What is inside the ark of the Covenant? God’s Ten Commandments.
I know the laws are confusing but once you understand God’s Ten Commandments are eternal, His perfect will for us that reflect the very essence of who God is, you will have better understanding of both OT and NT scriptures.
God bless
that's a good way to put it. When Jesus says "law of Moses" there, he's referring to the first five books of the Bible.Christ made it clear the purpose of the Law of Moses was to prepare His people for His arrival. (Luke 24:44).
do you mean that all of the laws given through Moses (excluding the Ten commandments) were ceremonial? The ceremonial ordinances of Law of Moses ended with Christ...
Are you saying that in addition toYes and more my friend.
Hi again SabbathBlessings,
Now, when you say
that's a good way to put it. When Jesus says "law of Moses" there, he's referring to the first five books of the Bible.
When he says "the Prophets", he means the history books and the books with prophet names on them, like Amos.
And "the Psalms" refers to the books Job through Song of songs.
Do we agree about that so far?
When you say
do you mean that all of the laws given through Moses (excluding the Ten commandments) were ceremonial?

My first impression from the rest of your post was that only the Ten commandments were God's law from the Old testament.
But I see in your exchange with @HIM that you also talk about tithing and unclean foods.
So in your view, is this a complete list of the categories of the laws that we are to keep today:
The Ten commandments
Laws related to tithing
Laws related to unclean foods?
Maybe you can answer my question, do you still believe God's Ten Commandments was nailed to the cross and we are no longer required to keep them?
This question was not addressed to you. Also there is more than one Sabbath in the Bible- did you know that? Maybe you can quote in God’s 4th commandment where is discusses food or drink? If its not there, than Colossians is referring to the other Sabbath(s) Feast days. We should ready know this because God said His weekly Sabbath is a perpetual covenant. Exodus 31:16. Plus we will be worshipping God on His Sabbath day on the New Earth Isaiah 66:23 so the weekly Sabbath day in God’s 4th Commandment Exodus 20:8-11 can’t be a shadow law. I’m beginning to think you’re not interested in the Truth in the scriptures. First, you say Sabbath is every day and now its nailed to the cross. Perhaps asking God to help you discover the Truth about His holy day before its too late.He blotted out our trespasses is what the passage actually says.
Our trespasses were nailed to the cross.
Col 2:13 And you—being dead in the trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh—He made alive together with him, having forgiven you all the trespasses,
Col 2:14 having blotted out the handwriting in the ordinances that is against us, that was contrary to us, and he hath taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross;
Col 2:15 having stripped the principalities and the authorities, he made a shew of them openly—having triumphed over them in it.
Col 2:16 Let no one, then, judge you in eating or in drinking, or in respect of a feast, or of a new moon, or of sabbaths,
Col 2:17 which are a shadow of the coming things, and the body is of the Christ;
.
Yes, although I think a better way to put it is that the law of Moses, which as Jesus used the phrase includes the Ten commandments, was fulfilled at the cross. Or possibly at the resurrection, or at Pentecost.Maybe you can answer my question, do you still believe God's Ten Commandments was nailed to the cross and we are no longer required to keep them?

I'm sorry to hear you do not understand that God's laws are separate from the law of Moses. God's laws were so important to God, He did not want anyone else to write them so God personally wrote them on stone, as a symbol of their significance and eternity. God than stored His perfect law of Ten inside the ark, placed in the most holy of holy of God's Temple. Just reading each of the Ten you should be able to see how they uniquely apply when God wrote them and to this day. Who thinks coveting, lying, stealing, murder, worshipping other gods is appropriate for God's sinless kingdom? It seem the only commandment people take issue with is God's 4th commandment that He asked us to "Remember". My take on it, it's two fold- one it requires our time. Every Sabbath our time dedicated to our Creator and as a memorial to His creation on His holy day. Most people prefer to run errands, go shopping, watch TV or whatever they prefer to do over keeping holy God's chosen day from creation. Genesis 2:2:3. The other reason is tradition. What will my friends say if I go to church on God's Sabbath. My friends go to Sunday church. Basically it boils down to our will. Do you choose God's will over our own. Many say they choose God's will but their actions say something different. This verse comes to mind.... These are the Words from our Savior Jesus-Yes, although I think a better way to put it is that the law of Moses, which as Jesus used the phrase includes the Ten commandments, was fulfilled at the cross. Or possibly at the resurrection, or at Pentecost.
But you know, that's on the theoretical, theological level.
As far as how you and I go about practicing what we each believe to be God's will, I'm willing to bet the only real difference is that you believe church attendance on the seventh day is required.
As far as I can tell, that's based on the opening of Leviticus 23. Is that section of Leviticus God's law or "ceremonial" law?
Right, Jesus obeyedHe obeyed Gods' 10 commandments and the "shadow laws" for remission of sins and sin offerings, the Levitical Priesthood the earthly Sanctuary all pointed to Jesus as Gods' sacrifice for the sins of the world once for all (John 1:29; 36; Hebrews 10:10)...

Many say they choose God's will but their actions say something different. This verse comes to mind.... These are the Words from our Savior Jesus-
Mathew 7: 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
This is a powerful verse in my opinion. Many think they are doing God's will, but God wrote His will on stone. It's the ONLY scripture in the WHOLE bible that God PERSONALLY wrote and was SPOKEN by our SAVIOR and than placed in the UPMOST HOLY of God's TEMPLE and you really do not think that's God's will for you and me? Than Jesus says I never knew you who practice lawlessness. What is lawlessness? Breaking God's laws. 1 John 3:4
If you really think Colossians wipes out the 170 verses in the Bible on God's holy Sabbath than honestly I feel sorry for those who think that. Why would you not give God the benefit of the doubt when He told us the Sabbath is a perpetual covenant. Exodus 31:16 and that He DOES NOT CHANGE Malachi 3:6. There is more than one Sabbath in the Bible, why do people WANT to think it's God's weekly Sabbath which makes absolutely no sense because the Sabbath in Colossians is all about food and drink and God's 4th commandment is about WORSHIP, the Creator of all things. The other Sabbath(s) is about food and drink, the Sabbath FEAST days. We also have these verse which would not sense if God's Sabbath ended at the cross along with the other 9 Commandments.
Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment. Luke 23:56. This is after Jesus rose and the ceremonial laws of Moses was nailed to the cross. I guess Mary did not get the memo that God's holy Sabbath was no more.
We also have Jesus telling us Mathew 24:20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. Jesus is referring to after He has gone back to Heaven so why would it matter if the Sabbath day was nailed to the cross.
The most compelling evidence is that Jesus taught all about the Sabbath in the NT. Was even accused of breaking the Sabbath, which means the Sabbath was being kept by Jesus and His disciples. Luke 4:16, Mathew 12:11-13, Acts 18:4.
After Jesus rose, why would He not mention it to one single person that God's chosen holy day written on stone that Jesus taught all about was changed and said was made for us Mark 2:27. Because that is a lie from Satan who has deceived the whole world according to scripture. Revelations 12:9 Satan who wants to be God wants you to worship him, the dragon and not God. Which is why Satan goes to war with God's saints who KEEPS GOD'S COMMANDMENTS which includes God's Sabbath day that He asked us to REMEMBER. Revelations 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Also notice there is only a remnant left of God's seed (church) it's not the majority. Another prophecy that came true.
Did you know the 4th Commandment has all the markings of God's Seal?
Name: Lord your God
Title: Creator
Territory: the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them
Exodus 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
The seventh-day Sabbath commandment is the only commandment that is repeatedly referred to as a seal or sign of God as seen in the following references (Exodus 31:16; Ezekiel 20:12; Ezekiel 20:20.
We also have Daniel predicting the change in God's 4th commandment
Daniel 7:25 He shall speak pompous words against the Most High,
Shall persecute the saints of the Most High, And shall intend to change times and law.
The only Commandment that is a time and a law is God's 4th commandment. Time (every Sabbath) law (4th commandment).
and that came true.
Quote from the Roman Catholic church who changed God's Sabbath day and admit without ANY Biblical authority.
A. Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her; —she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday the Seventh day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority.
—Rev. Stephen Keenan, A Doctrinal Catechism; New York in 1857, page 174
How people don't see this as clearly as it is written is beyond me. God's children hear God's voice.
I hope you can take a step back and really read the scriptures I posted and ask God for guidance. There is a Spiritual war going on right now both God and Satan want our souls. One offers Eternal life and happiness worshipping God forever on His Sabbath day Isaiah 66:23, the other wants to deceive you so your soul will not go to his enemy our Heavenly Creator who loves each of us and wants to save each of us.
Jesus divided up the Old testament into three parts:I'm sorry to hear you do not understand that God's laws are separate from the law of Moses.
Sorry friend, if that is all you took away from my post, I think we are back to square one going in circles. I'm not sure we are going to get anywhere, because without understanding the difference between God's law vs the law of Moses (which I outlined in a previous post w scripture reference) than the NT is going to be really confusing understanding which law is being referenced.Thank you for the nice long post.
Let's start here.
Jesus divided up the Old testament into three parts:
The law of Moses
The prophets
The Psalms
The law of Moses refers to the first five books of the Bible. Do we agree so far?
The first five books contain the ten commandments. So the 10 are not separate from the law of moses, they are included in it.
I have two more responses to parts of your post that I have ready to go, but I didn't want to flood the channel.Sorry friend, if that is all you took away from my post, I think we are back to square one going in circles. Seems pretty self-explanatory. To be honest, I'm not sure our conversations are very fruitful. You don't seem to believe any of the scriptures I provide and it's been months of conversations. It also seems you are so caught up on a small detail, that you're missing the very big picture that has substantial scripture evidence. You want to believe all of God's laws and the law of Moses ended, you have free will to do or think whatever you want. I just worry that while it may get what you want out of this life, there is a whole next chapter that we are told it is beyond what we can comprehend right now. I would love to see you in heaven my friend. God's laws are made out of love and is the very character of who God is, which includes God's holy Sabbath. Maybe one day you will see what I see from what is written in God's Word. God blessI have two more responses to parts of your post that I have ready to go, but I didn't want to flood the channel.
What do you believe Jesus meant when he said "the law of Moses"?
What will my friends say if I go to church on God's Sabbath.
Here's something I noticed: the words for perpetual covenant hereWhy would you not give God the benefit of the doubt when He told us the Sabbath is a perpetual covenant. Exodus 31:16 and that He DOES NOT CHANGE Malachi 3:6.
The Sabbath (s) annual feast days, along with animal sacrifices and physical circumcision ended as Jesus as our sacrifice. Not the seventh day weekly Sabbath that is in the 4th commandment and will continue on the New Earth Isaiah 66:23.In order to make Church attendance on the Sabbath a requirement, I believe one has to look outside of the Ten commandments to Leviticus 23.
Do you believe we are to do the commandments in Leviticus 23 today?
