I also will make clear, if you state:

If we sin we are under the law and guilty before God

It is exactly the same as stating:

If we fail to observe the law we are under the law and guilty before God.

Both statements mean the same thing.

I may have been a bit late on quoting this and saying "Amen!" -- but better late than never ...

For, if you fail to observe the law you commit sin
For:
Sin is the transgression of the law
1john3:4

True - which is why it is "still a sin" for us to take God's name in vain -- even after the cross.

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. Matthew 5:17

True.

Jesus perfectly fulfilled the law to Love God and the law about not taking God's name in vain... and the Law about honoring parents and not coveting .... etc etc.

I think we can all agree on that point.

Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. Romans 3:31

Amen!

That text comes right after the Romans 3:19-20 text where Paul reminds us that the SAME Law - condemns the entire world as sinners because that law defines what sin is.

GOD’S LAW (10 commandments) ARE FOREVER

The Law of God (10 commandments) is the work of God (Exodus 32:16) whatsoever God does is forever nothing can be added to it or taken away (Ecclesiastes 3:14). God's Law is perfect converting the soul (Psalms 19:7). It is the very foundation of the Old and New Covenants and the Judgement to come (Exodus 20:1:17, Hebrews 8:10-12; Exodus 36:26-27; Jeremiah 31:33-34; Hebrews 10:26-28; Romans 1:29-32;2:-9;2 Corinthians 5:10; Hebrews 9:27; Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, James 2:10-12, 1 John 3:4, Acts 17:31 ).

God's Law was spoken by God himself to His people (Exodus 20:1-22). God’s 10 commandments are the spoken word of God (Exodus 20:1-22). God’s Word does not pass away (Matthew 25:35). Gods Law is still in force today (Psalms 111:7-8, Revelations 12:17, 14:12, 22:14, 1 John 3:5-8, 1 John 2:3-4; James 2:8-12 etc.). God’s Law reveals sin to us and the penalty of sin so we can see ourselves as we truly are sinners in need of a Saviour (Romans 6:23; Romans 3:20; 1 John 3:4). It is the great standard of the judgement (Hebrews 10:26-28; Romans 1:29-32; Romans 2:2-13; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Hebrews 9:27; Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, James 2:10-12, 1 John 3:4, Acts 17:31). God's Law is our teacher revealing sin and brings us to Christ at the foot of the cross that we might be saved by faith by Him who loves us and washed us in His own blood as we have faith (Galatians 3:24; Revelations 1:5). God writes His Law in our hearts so that we become like him and we follow him because we love him (Hebrews 8:10-12) LOVE is the fulfilling (doing) of God's Law (Romans 13:10). This is why Jesus says to those that love him If you love me keep my commandments (John 14:15).

This also includes God's 4th commandment which is the 7th Day Sabbath.

In Christ Always!

Jesus said, the Holy Spirit, when he was sent would convict regarding judgement:
Because the prince of this world now stands condemned
John16:11

How can you quote Jeremiah 31:33&34 to endorse the TC being the basis of the judgement to come.
Jeremiah states in those verses:
Their sins and lawless deeds i will remember NO MORE

Under the core terms of the NC the law God desires you to follow is written in your mind and placed on your heart. What is in your mind you in your mind must know. The law in your heart must bring heartfelt conviction of sin when you wilfully transgress it. For:
Through the law we become conscious of sin rom3:20

Your conviction of sin, what laws God desires you to follow come from within, for that is where God himself has placed his laws in you. That is true Christianity.
Being convicted as to which laws you should follow, based on reading OT law written in ink, is NOT true Christianity, for the law is within you.

This is the covenant I will make with them after that time says the Lord
I WILL( God does it) write my laws in their minds and place them on their hearts
Then he adds
Their sins and lawless deeds I will remember no more
Heb10:16&17

God’s Word says: LOVE is the fulfilling of God’s Law (10 commandments)

No one can keep the letter of the Law because all God’s Law does is to point out Sin (1 John 3:4). It is our mirror that shows us our condition and that all our own righteousness is as filthy rags (James 1:22-25; Isaiah 64:6). It is our teacher to bring us to Jesus so that we can have salvation by faith in God’s Word alone because there is nothing that we can do in our own strength to save ourselves. It is a gift of God lest any man shall boast (Romans 6:23). It is God’s Law that brings us to Jesus (Galatians 3:24). He has not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance (Matthew 9:13).

LOVE is the fulfilling of God’s Law In us who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit;

Love is in-deed the fulfilling of God’s Law. This is the promise of the New Covenant. Spoken about by God in the Old Testament and repeated in the New.

Ezekiel 36:26-27,
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh and I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Jeremiah 31:33-34,
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people and they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Hebrews 8:10-12,
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people and they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

So now under the new covenant when God changes our heart; we will love God and our neighbor.

if we love God we will not steal
if we love God we will not murder
if we love God we will not commit adultery
if we love God we will not lie
if we love God we will honor our parents
if we love God we will not covet
if we love God we will have no other gods except our God who loves us
if we love God we will not make unto any idols
if we love God we will not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain
if we love God we will Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy as he asked us to!

God’s Law has always been central to both the Old and the New Covenant. It is only by the operation of God as we have Faith in His Word that God changes our hearts so that we can love him and love our neighbor that we can walk in his ways. This is why Jesus says its only if you love me we can keep hid commandments (John 14:15)

Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Psalms 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Psalms 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Psalms 51:13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
Love is the fulfilling of the God’s Law. I love Jesus and want to follow Him how about you

If we are knowingly and willfully breaking any of God’s Laws however we are sinning against God. Sin is the transgression of God’s Law and God’s Word tells us that if we continue in sin the wages of sin is death (1 John 3:4; Rom 6:23). If we choose to follow the teachings and traditions of man over the Word of God then we are unbelievers in God’s Word.

Sunday Worship is a teaching and tradition of man breaking God’s Law which has no basis in God’s Word. The question remains who do we really follow God or Man? This is the great test that will come to each of us. God’s sheep hear his voice… He that has ears to hear let him hear (Matt 11:15) If we say that we know Jesus and are breaking His commandments God’s Word says we are lying and the truth is not in us (1 John 2:3-4)

Hope this is helpful,

In Christ always

God's Law (10 commandments) and the ceremonial laws of Moses

God’s Law (10 commandments) had a similar role in the Old Covenant as it does in the New Covenant and that is to point out sin and the standard of God’s righteousness.

(1) God’s Law point out what sin is and the punishment of sin which is death. It was never a cure for sin. But it was the work of God which is forever and the foundation of the Old Covenant, the New Covenant and the Judgement to come. (Exodus 32:16; Exodus 31:18; 31:18; Exodus 20:1-22; Deuteronomy 10:5; Romans 3:20; 1 John 3:4; Romans 6:23; Hebrews 7:19; Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, James 2:10-12, 1 John 3:4, Acts 17:31; Psalms 111:7-8; Revelation 12:17; 14:12; 22:14; 1 John 3:5-8; 1 John 2:3-4; Ecc 3:14)

(2) The ceremonial laws of Moses however were the prescriptive cure for sin with all the Levitical and ceremonial laws, burnt offerings, annual feast days foretelling the plan of salvation which were connected to Feast days with New Moon sabbaths, food and drink offerings and other Holy days. These where all types pointing to Jesus and the plan of salvation and were nailed to the cross with our sins because they are now fulfilled. Now that Jesus is here we are under the New Covenant. Jesus is our Passover and the lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world and as no longer need to provide burnt offerings when we sin to seek forgiveness. (Leviticus 1:1-13; Leviticus 23:1-44; Numbers 28:1-31; 29:1-40; Deuteronomy 24:10-11; Ex 24:3; Deuteronomy 31:24-26; Colosians 2:16-16; Hebrews 10:1; Ephesians 2:14-15; Leviticus 4; 5; 6; Hebrews 4:14; 9;10; John 1:29; Hebrew Chapters 8; 9; 10; 2 Corinthians 5:6-7) It is the ceremonial laws of Moses along with our sins that are nailed to the cross (Colossians 2:14) not the 10 commandments

Jam 2:8-12

8, If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well: 9, But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. 10, For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 11, For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.12, So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

This includes God’s 7th Day Sabbath.

,how can you cite rom3:20 as an endorsement of the law being the foundation of the NC and the judgement to come?

Therefore no one will be declared righteous/ justified in his sight by observing the law, rather through the law we become conscious of sin

Hi Stuart Romans 3:20 in post #35 is a scripture reference to what was written before it.

(1) God’s Law point out what sin is and the punishment of sin which is death (Rom 3:20; 1 John 3:4). It was never a cure for sin. But it was the work of God which is forever and the foundation of the Old Covenant, the New Covenant and the Judgement to come.

That is it gives us a knowledge of what sin is.

Hi LGW
You recited rom3:20 after you stated the law is the foundation of the NC and the judgement to come
You cited it twice!

And how can our sins be nailed to the cross if we are guilty before God if we commit sin?
And how can our sins be nailed to the cross if being in a saved state hinges on not committing sin?
Jesus is the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. Whosoever commits sin is a servant of sin and sin is the transgression of God's Law. Jesus says if you continue in my word you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free and If the son shall make you free you shall be free indeed. Can you guess what scriptures are quoted?
