  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

At my old house, I had two crucifixes, a life-size crown of thorns (which I made myself from trimmings from a hawthorn tree many years ago---I had on thick leather gloves and still drew blood on myself), a picture of Da Vinci's Last Supper, an icon of Our Lady of Vladimir, a picture of Our Lady Help of Christians, and a portrait of the Pope. I also had statues of St. Michael driving a spear through the head of Satan, of Our Lady of the Rosary, and of Christ bound before Pilate. I also had several others which I can't think of right now.

I still have all of those, but they're mostly packed away; the rabbit warren I'm living in at the moment doesn't have room for much of anything. Someday, God willing, I can actually move back into a house again, and I'll have room to display this stuff. :)

Uriel is not approved as the official name of an archangel by the Catholic Church, InnerPhyre, although I have read some Orthodox Authors who speak positively about the identity of the "Seven Spirits who are before the throne of God day and night," being,

Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, (then we get into apocryphal names) Uriel, (from Esdras) Raguel, (from Enoch, I believe) Saraquel, Remiel.

Interesting fact: The Talmud lists Raphael as one of the three angels to visit Abraham.

There are also mentioned, as replacements, Phanuel, or Jeremiel.

All outside the first three (Michael, Gabriel, Raphael) are largely apocryphal, and a lot of angel fanatics have a field day with Esdras and Enoch.

www.automonline.com - they do some nice stuff but I've never ordered from on there - it's a US site so I wouldn't be able to afford the shipping!

www.fadumont.co.uk - I got my cassock from here - do some nice crucifixes.

Otherwise, I can only recommend little parish shops, Christian bookshops sometimes do crucixies and icons. Oh, and if you live anywhere near London there's the Westminster cathedral shop, as well as a little place near St. Paul's Cathedral which does some lovely little icons.

And don't forget the pilgrimage shops! My favourite is the Village shop at Walsingham!
