Why are we here? We’re here because God created us. Before we were in our mother’s womb he called on us for the purpose he had in mind for us. When we pursue that purpose He will justify and glorify us, as it says in Romans 8:28-30. He will give us a future and a hope as it says in Jeremiah 29:11. He will be here for us, for He controls the future. And our reward for fulfilling His purpose may be residing in His Kingdom when the time comes to pass on.
Whatever purpose he has for us aims to preserve His Creation of all life and especially of all mankind that we may flourish in that life. Along with our purpose in life is the realization that when we love God, all things work out for good for us who pursue His Purpose.
Whatever that purpose is, we need to ensure that our actions are not harmful to others. Lord knows the many earthly temptations that can lead us to that end, and He is understanding enough to forgive us should we stumble off the path of His Journey for us, but our primary focus is to be on what is good, as God focused when He created life in Genesis. Each stage of His Creation added to what He created before, and in that spirit, whatever we indulge in should add to His Creation as well.
Jesus arrived here to promote peace on earth, that out of our love for God we may continue adding to the life on earth He created. It is only in the ambience of peace that this may be accomplished. You cannot build anything with rockets and missiles flying around, threatening you and your loved ones. It’s hard to work at a job if you have nothing to show for it for yourself and your family. The lack of peace between you and your neighbor can spoil whatever it is you’ve been working for. The lack of love for God can keep people bolted on the earth and below it as their souls return to God. Anything that takes away from what God has created would take your love away from God.
The love of God is Jesus’ first commandment when he came to us. We who love God with all our heart, soul and mind would do that which adds to His Creation. If we aim to compromise others, subtracting from them, we are not serving Him. How can we hope to be justified by Him if we pursue that end? How can anyone hope to be justified by Him if we ourselves are compromised?
If in our pursuits we aim for the greater good, for our families on up, we are doing well to reach up to God, away from earthly things on earth that may cause us to stumble. If we are to achieve loving God with all our heart, soul and mind it helps to set our sights on Him, as it says in Colossians 3:2 and Philippians 3:14. If you focus on what God would think of what you do, that will also take care of what others think of what you do. Your love of God brings you and your loved ones closer to Him.
