  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Brethren in Christ, peace be with you,

*on a lighter note*
I never knew that the MTV pop culture could produce music that glorifies God, but it seems like this song is one of the few that does so to a profound level. I have never been one for pop music, as I mostly listen to classical, hymal, Christian worship, ancient chant, piano, and such. But I just wanted to voice my utter enjoyment of this song, as it helps me find my pure joy of God, and reminds me of music I hear sometimes in my dreams.

May the Lord give you His peace!

I'm curious what she's loving angels instead of.
I guess it's a cover song that was originally sang by Robbie Williams. I've never heard of him, but many really liked his version from the reviews I saw.

Angels Lyrics

I sit and wait
as an angel
Contemplates my fate
And do they know
The places where we go
When we're grey and old
'Cause I've been told
That salvation lets their wings unfold
So when I'm lying in my bed
Thoughts running through my head
And I feel that love is dead
I'm loving angels instead

And through it all
He offers me protection
A lot of love and affection
Whether I'm right or wrong
And down the waterfall
Wherever it may take me
I know that life won't break me
When I come to call
He won't forsake me
I'm loving angels instead

When I'm feeling weak
And my pain walks down a one way street
I look above
And I know I'll always be blessed with love
And as the feeling grows
He brings flesh to my bones
And when love is dead
I'm loving angels instead

And through it all
He offers me protection
A lot of love and affection
Whether I'm right or wrong
And down the waterfall
Wherever it may take me
I know that life won't break me
When I come to call
He won't forsake me
I'm loving angels instead

I'm loving angels instead, ohhh oh yeah

And through it all
He offers me protection
A lot of love and affection
Whether I'm right or wrong
And down the waterfall
Wherever it may take me
I know that life won't break me
When I come to call
He won't forsake me
I'm loving angels instead

For lack of a better term, her version su*ks!!!!
Please listen to Robbie Williams version!!!!
(He's Catholic btw:thumbsup: ) I've been a fan of his for years. While his bad boy behavior and lyrics sometimes do not refelct this, a lot of his songs reflect his faith. He wrote a song about his grandmother on the Escapology album called Nan's song...brought me to tears.

Nan's Song
You said when you'd die that you'd walk
with me everyday
And I'd start to cry and say please don't talk that way
With the blink of an eye the Lord came
And asked you to meet(leave)
You went to a better place but he stole you away from me
And now she lives in heaven
But I know they let her out
To take care of me
There's a strange kind of light
Caressing me tonight
Pray silence my fear she is near
Bringing heaven down here
I miss you love I miss your touch
But I'm feeling you everyday
And I can almost hear you say
"You've come a long way baby"
And now you live in heaven
But I know they let you out
To take care of me
There's a strange kind of light
In my bedroom tonight
Pray silence my fear she is near
Bringing heaven down here
You taught me kings and queens
While stroking my hair
In my darkest hour I know you are there
Kneeling down beside me
Whispering my prayer
Yes there's a strange kind of light
Caressing me tonight
Pray silence my fear
She is near
Bringing heaven down here
And the next time we meet
I will bow at her feet
And say wasn't life sweet
Then we'll prepare
To take heaven down there

Robbie Williams and Jessica Simpson seem to act contrary to Christian beliefs at times but bottom line is-they seem to believe in God even if they sometimes act/dress a little promiscuously.

The thing is, because the world considers them "cool" kids might be more inclined to listen to the songs about Jesus. I think if Jessica wore clothes that were more modest and Robbie was rather sedate, kids wouldn't get that into their music.

So my point is, I think that The World making us dress sexy/act sexy can also benefit us in the sense that we can can Love God and teach that whilst our image may be otherwise not what a lot would consider "Christian". You know what I am saying?

Robbie is from my city...in fact, he used to go to my daughters school (at a different time, i'm not that old!)...he's a Potteries guy and speaks with the local Potteries/ Stoke accent (he's a big Port Vale Fan -a footie club down the road from where i live)...he never tries to pretend he's something that he isn't...but he's not a great example of christian living...he has a brilliant sense of humour, but his language is foul. I don't know him personally, and while i'm not a 'fan' and would never pay to go and see him live, i'm proud of what he has done for the City (Charitable donations etc -though not immense, still it's something..and his lyrics are just brilliant a lot of the time) and putting us 'on the map' so to speak...goodness, when you think about it i could be equally proud of some of the other celebrities that came out of Stoke.... like Anthea Turner and Bruno Brookes..NOT... :D

Kind of like Brittany Spears put Kentwood, LA. On the map. It about an hour or so away from New Orleans.

ZooMom,

Jessica Simpson is on the Pizza Hut commercials with the Muppets, Miss Piggy and Kermit. Have you seen it? She’s the blonde that Miss Piggy tell to “back off” when she flits with Kermit.

Thanks, Michelle, but that doesn't enlighten me a whole lot more than EG's tip. ;) I just don't see much public TV. Probably not even a full hour in a week. I do like the Muppets, though.
