Jeffrey E. Epstein, a billionaire New York financier long accused of molesting dozens of girls, was arrested on Saturday and charged with sex trafficking by federal prosecutors, an extraordinary turn of events in a long and sordid criminal case.

Why the Trump White House Is Caught Up in the Jeffrey Epstein Scandal

For more than a decade, Mr. Epstein, a 66-year-old hedge fund manager, has avoided a lengthy prison sentence, largely because of a controversial 2008 plea agreement his lawyers struck with prosecutors in 2008. That deal shielded Mr. Epstein from federal charges in Florida.

Under the agreement, Mr. Epstein pleaded guilty to state prostitution charges and spent about a year in a Palm Beach jail. He was permitted to leave the facility six days a week for 12 hours a day to work.

The agreement was negotiated in part by Alexander Acosta, a former federal prosecutor who is now President Trump’s secretary of labor.

Some people won't be able to follow the logic of Epstein having nude photos of underage girls (and having plead guilty to 'prostituting' a 14-year-old girl) to a charge of sex trafficking underage girls.

The indictment seems a bit repetitive. Reads like a patent.

Having said that, I found page 12 interesting. Basically both properties have been asset forfeitured, even though he hasn't been found guilty yet. Nice to see a draconian law that shouldn't exist is applied to everyone.
