  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Have you seen them? Which one is better as a study tool and why?

Thanks.

Study bibles usually reflect the views of the one who wrote them. I would stick with a bible without the commentary. Lehaye isnt a dispensationalist so you know you wouldn't be getting a dispensational point of view there...Who is the Jeffrey fella? Grant Jeffrey? He isnt a dispensationalist either, is he?

The Gideon Bible is far better than both.

It contains only God's Word, and no untrue and misleading commentaries of modern man who peddle their opinions with clever packaging and advertising to turn a buck.

Regardless of anyone's views, the entire epidemic of how modern-day bibles are packed with more opinions and 'expert speculations' than the actual scriptures themselves should trouble any sincere Christian.

It is difficult to go to any Bible Bookstore and find printable bibles without somebodies name plastered across the cover, espousing their expert opinions throughout.

Find a bible without commentaries, (like the Gideon Bibles), and study them with all your heart and soul....for they contain the truth of God's Word without external man's faulty opinions.

Colossians 2:6 "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ."

Luke 16:13 "No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him. And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. "

I'm looking for the opinions of LaHaye and Grant R. Jeffery, that's why I asked which Bible was 'better.' Some folks buy commentaries, I like to collect Bibles (thx for the heads up on the MAB). It's the opinions I want.

Since LaHaye and Jeffery hold to a similar form of popular dispensationalism, I'm looking for the Bible with the most detailed notes, best binding, page quaility, easy reading font, etc...

Thx
