Inspired by Gracie's Christmas party thread I thought I'd start one but with a Thanksgiving theme.

The rules are the same as hers:

As a Thanksgiving gift to the forum, I'll give a million blessings each to the last 25 people (posters, not posts) in this thread at midnight EST on Thanksgiving. If the thread splits before Thanksgivng(which I doubt)I will give two million blessings per person if we're on thread (2) or 3 million blessings if we're in thread (3), etc(but since we're close to Thanksgiving I doubt that will happen)

There will also be some awards for posters in the thread. They'll be given on midnight Thanksgiving for 100,000 Blessing for each award. So far the awards are:

Funniest Post Award
Best Pic Award
Most Touching Post Award
Member With The Most Posts In This Thread Award
Best Thanksgiving Recipe Award

If I turn out to have the most post award I will reward the second most posts.

So let's have fun.

Ingredients

4 pounds yams (or sweet potatoes), peeled and cut to large bite-sized pieces
2 cups orange juice
3 cups light corn syrup
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons lemon zest
2 tablespoons flour
1 1/2 cups light brown sugar, packed
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Boil yams until slightly underdone, to avoid breaking. Strain, cool and set aside.

In a large container whisk together orange juice, corn syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and zest. In another bowl, whisk flour and both sugars together.

Put cooled yams in a deep baking dish, add dry ingredients and stir to coat. Pour liquid over yams and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
