  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's Who You Know

A relative gave us a copy of "It's Who You Know" by Morris Venden. (I guess Morris used to attend the same church I do now). I'd like to encourage everyone to get this book because I think it covers a lot of different scenarios we all may be facing.

I have an older sister that won't talk to me about religion anymore. Here's the hard part to admit....I don't blame her. When we first started talking about the Bible I was all about the "Law of God" and knew very little how to share the "Love of God." This book covers that.

So, in short, if you're having trouble discussing God and His love, or even His love through His law, this book is excellent. I approached the situation with my sister all wrong, but the good news is that I don't think it's too late.

It's all about Jesus.

I'll have to check that one out. I like his writing style in this book a lot. It has brought me to tears many times.
After I read "To Know God" I bought about 25 and distributed them. It's a small book and very easy reading. From the name I would guess that this other book expands on that original theme.

I haven't met an Adventist yet that doesn't have the Library of Congress in their homes. I'm not kidding, I go to a church family's home and there are always books everywhere. I think it's wonderful.

Like you, if I get a great DVD or something, I love to share that information with others and distribute it to everyone I know. Maybe we're all like that, which would explain the Library of Congress in our homes.

I'll definitely check into buying that book.
