I think I should stop coming here, each time I come it causes me to lose a little more faith in mankind (and completely abolishes the idea Christians are any different).

It's your expectations, Matt. Politics involves power, and power is a very basic psychological drive to be overcome. In relation to the everyman, this involves massive tribal thinking in that "our" party is being supported against "yours". There's nowhere else in daily living that you're going to find this partisan mentality so firmly wedged into people's reality -- not even in religion, where denominations don't even speak to one another. We're at a point in political history where the tone and volume has become perhaps more acerbic than it's ever been.

But it helps when you step back and laugh.
