  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's finally happened! Larson C Ice Shelf breaks off.

The Larson C ice shelf in Antarctica has finally broken off. It is quite common for ice burgs to break off, but these days they are humongous, including entire ice shelves. The Larson C is the size of the state of Delaware. Because it was previously floating, it will continue to float at the same level and will not effect the sea's level. The ice sheet broke off as a part of the gradual warming of Antarctica. This is one of the lines of evidence for Climate Change.

There may be climate changes going on around the world but that doesn't equal Global Warming.
Antarctica is but one line of evidence. When you add up all the lines of evidence, you do end up with Climate Change/Global Warming (overall. that doesn't mean that in some areas it doesn't get colder. it's the average temp of the earth that's getting hotter.)

LINES OF EVIDENCE:
1. Glaciers are, overall, melting.
2. Areas covered by snow are reducing
3. Tree covered areas are shifting towards the poles and upwards in elevation
4. Spring is coming earlier
5. Species are migrating more towards the poles and upwards in elevation
6. Seas are warmer, both within, and on the surface
7. There is less sea ice (ice burgs)
8. Ice sheets are breaking off
9. Sea levels are rising
10. Air temperature is up, over land, over the sea, and in the troposphere
11. Humidity is up
12. Permafrost is warming at greater depths

But these things just prove that the climate is warming. It doesn't prove why

The following video was produced by the National Academy of Sciences, and explores why climate scientists believe it is the use of fossile fuels that is at the heart of climate change:

Even all these are but just the ebbs and flows seem throughout generations.

It's obvious you didn't watch the video of the evidence that it is not normal ebb and flow.

We know from things like the amount of CO2 trapped in layers of glaciers how hot the earth has gotten in ages past. This is not a normal ebb and flow of CO2--it's unprecidented. And even if we stop all the things we are doing now that contribute to global warming, it will continue to get hotter because of the feedback due to the layer that we have already created.

Climatologist Tony Heller points out at his blog, the Danish island territory just set its coldest July temperature on record. In fact, it was the coldest temperature ever recorded in the Northern Hemisphere for the month of July: -33C (-27.4F).

I have more concerns about the earthquakes [587 on a scale of 2-4] happening at yellowstone than global warming.
The possibility of the Yellowstone Supervolcanoe erupting is certainly a very real and alarming concern. It would be a disaster of apocalyptic proportions.

Nice to agree .
