It's been so long since I've seen your face
Heard your voice
Called out your name
My heart yet breaks for the pain I feel
Tears yet fall, for my loss is real
God called you home, and my world turned dark
As tears became my only companion
I miss your voice
I miss your smell
And Papa I miss your laughter
I miss the wisdom, the ones that failed to be passed down
But most of all I miss your face
For you see, It's been so long
I've plumb forgot
Heard your voice
Called out your name
My heart yet breaks for the pain I feel
Tears yet fall, for my loss is real
God called you home, and my world turned dark
As tears became my only companion
I miss your voice
I miss your smell
And Papa I miss your laughter
I miss the wisdom, the ones that failed to be passed down
But most of all I miss your face
For you see, It's been so long
I've plumb forgot
What words could describe two people who loved life so deeply, but loved each other so much more - that one could not live life without the other and followed her into paradise only days after she walked through the pearly gates.
They just weren't my Grandparents - they were another set of parents to me. They raised me, nurtured me, taught me about life, love, and faith. And for that I will be ever grateful. My task now is to raise my daughter with at least a portion of the patience, love, faith, and joy as they raised me. I weep when I think about the great man and woman the world lost, but more-so, I weep when I think about what my child will never know.
I know I will see you both one day, and till I do - take care. Watch over us and I hope you smile at what you see is there. Grandma, Papa - we loved and lost, but we're happy that your both together.
