• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everyone,
I hope you're doing well. It's been awhile since I've been active here and things still haven't turned around for me, in fact it's only been getting worse. Nothing has really helped and I feel stuck. At a loss for what to do really? Like I've lost myself and have drifted so far away from everything that I'm past the point of no return. And all my attepts seem futile and only seem to further this out of contol situation. It's like I've turned into the walking dead, literally. What to do?

Likewise. Hope you're doing well. As for strategies I'm trying my best not to engage the thoughts in any way(sometimes it just seems impossible), disregard them and go about my day as if they weren't there. But I've had long long periods where I haven't been able to do so and I've been engulfed by the thoughts to the point where I'm trapped inside my mind. I'm hoping for a breakthrough somehow but I don't see it coming. I think one of the areas where I lack is with staying consistent, I seem to forget so quickly.

It is easy to forget to stay consistent! Working on OCD is all about building new mind habits, which can take a while. Perseverance is key! I can't remember if you're on medication, but I know that takes the edge off for some people. Have you looked into ACT therapy at all? I think some people find it more user friendly than ERP. It sounds like you're already putting some of the strategies into practice, though!
