In my relatively short time listening to Christian music, I have noticed that certain songs contain riffs that are very similar to other riffs contained in music by secular artists.

For example, Disciple (a band I do like) in the song, " I Just Know", have certain guitar passages that sound almost identical to a Pantera song called, "Walk".

Another example is Kutless (another band I enjoy), they sometimes sound a lot like the band, Staind. The song "Treason" comes to mind.

And the bands that are really big do try to expand, as far as Christian music. Also, I think that the Christian record companies are doing the same think.

Ok, not trying to bust your chops here, but tell me what Third Day, Audio Adrenaline, Newsboys, or Michael W Smith have done to try to 'expand'......

All of his songs sound exactly the same, and while there are some slightly better than mediocre ones, come on.
This is my thought about many CCM artists (especially the ones that are constantly played on my local CCM station) who are doing the same thing over and over:
How long are you going to milk it?

Seriously, how long are they going to do the *exact* same thing, just to put out another half-arsed record to make money? Don't even get me started on bands who just keep on because of their proclaimed "worship" albums...

Maroon 5 aren't Christians-are they? Never heard of them being Christians. Sorry I could be getting the completely wrong end of the stick, but it sounded like you were referring to them as a Christian band...

OH MAN. i don't remember what two songs anymore, but steven curtis chapman definitely has two songs that sound EXACTLY alike except for the lyrics. i mean, all his songs are pretty similar in sound, but these two songs are identical. i will say though, the man has written some catchy (if not necessarily always good..) songs.

I saw Todd Agnew in concert a while back and he was amazingly good live, but I found his cd to be bit lousy. The production seemed cheap sounding or something, but as far as CCM artists go, he's above the pack in terms of lyrics. Now if he could just get a decent producer...

Well, I don't mind a good "worship" album, my problem is how many different versions of "Better is One Day" and "Draw Me Close" do we need? It seems it's obligatory for nearly every christian artist that comes on the scene to do a "worship" album and it's lacking creativity and it's getting old.
